Everyone who knows me knows that second chance/brother's best friend romances are my jam. We have that trope here when Jillian comes back into town to enlist the help of her older brother’s ex-best friend (and the man who broke her heart), Jack, to track down her sister-in-law, who’s fallen in with a rival biker gang. What follows is a unique and fun spin on werewolves and a novel filled with action as they try to save her sister-in-law
While I enjoyed Werebiker, I felt that it was somewhat disjointed and rushed at some parts. It also seemed as if Jack didn't really want to rekindle anything with Jill other than sex. It was a little off putting. All in all, I am glad I read this. Bravo 3 stars! ~Ratula
Jack Crown is a lone wolf. Literally. Breaking from the Pack years ago, he maintains a distance from those who would have him be their Alpha. But when Jillian Perkins, his ex-best friend's little sister, walks into his motorcycle shop, that plan slowly begins to unravel. Jillian hasn't seen Jack in four years, ever since he let her brother join the military alone instead of meeting him for basic training as planned. Angry about his betrayal but still utterly attracted to his good looks, she soon reveals to him that she needs a motorcycle to save her brother's wife from the local motorcycle gang. Little does she know that they're not just burly men with egos - they're werewolves. And her sister-in law is in thrall to their leader, a connection that won't be easy to break. Jack and Jillian must now reluctantly join forces to keep her brother from losing the love of his life, and along the way, they may just lose their hearts.
Jack and Jillian (yes, they go by Jack and Jill) are a cute couple, albeit one with lots of issues. I had some issues with Jack from the beginning, since he seemed to just want to use Jill to scratch an itch for sex, even though he knew it could never work. But eventually things changed, and his protective instincts kicked into gear enough to allow a deeper connection between the two of them. My favorite parts of the book were probably when he and his friends were their wolf selves. It was cute how they were actually more like giant dogs than anything, and I especially thought it was hilarious that Jillian's father took Jack in as a "stray." Oh, the laughs I got with this book! Yes, it was dark in places, and there were times where I was scared for Jack and Jill, but ultimately it was an enjoyable read with amazing characters and lots of creativity.
I would be interested in reading more about the characters in this world, though I'm not certain if there will be another book. If not, I will just be eager to read whatever the author comes up with next!
**I received a free copy via NetGalley and this is my honest review.**
Years after she thought she left town for good, Jillian is back and has enlisted the help of her older brother’s ex-best friend (and the man who broke her heart), Jack, to track down her sister-in-law, who’s fallen in with a rival biker gang—but Jack knows they’re werewolves, and that he has to protect Jillian at any cost, even if she hates him.
This is not your ordinary Jack and Jill story. Jill’s brother asked her to help check up on his wayward wife, little do they know the can of worms that simple question will cause. This is the first I have read of this author, and I was not disappointed. If you love werewolves, you will devour this in one sitting like I did.
The sizzle factor is off the charts! The characters are well developed and continue to grow throughout the entire book. The flow is smooth and you will be poked from page one. Even the characters you dont really care for, Carrie the wayward sister in law, you will end up rooting for. She falls into thrall of the Alpha, and her battle to be free is real. I loved Jill’s spunk. Don't mess with a woman on a mission. Jack is a tortured soul, the kind of dark broody we love. I can't recommend this shifter book enough. I hope there will be more to come, I’d love to follow the rest of the pack to be there for their HEA.
Werewolves and bikers are rolled into one story.
This was a different take by combining the two, that I cannot remember reading another one like it before. I am not sure how to write this without giving away some spoilers, so stop if you don’t want to know things.
Besides the wolves and bikers there is a few other supernatural creatures and service men. As for the werewolves I liked that it was started with a curse and then spread from there. I liked the baddie’s ultimate goal is to take over the world from humans, though I think he should have been a little more over the top. I really liked Jack, his reasons from shutting himself off and how he finally gets over it are the best parts of the story for me. Jillian falls a little flat for me. Overall I liked the story, I just thought it could have been so much more.
