In earlier years, a Russian family of complicated history, migrates to America and settles in West Hollywood. Not all the members are related but each one is connected in some way. They live with secrets of escape, childhood mystery, and individual indoctrination in the pack.
The mystery about Karina, the protagonist, unravels slowly. Karina has the qualities of inherited refinement and loves and respects her grandmother Babushka. Karina is studying to become a P.I. Her best girlfriend, Lexi, is rather wild but as close as a sister. Karina has interrupted her `Werewolf Nature' for personal reasons. It's no wonder that her entertainment is Lexi telling of her dating escapades with Russian strangers in their community.
Living near to the beach, enjoying her werewolf fancies and playing in the woods, Lexi knows the habits of humans dating at the beach and makes Karina laugh at her daring stories. When Karina asks Lexi for details, she responds, "I thought you didn't want details." Karina replies, "Let me put it this way. I am just as curious as I am horrified."
Troubles are brewing in the pack! Ivan is a twin but is the Alpha male of the group equal to the Alpha female Karina. Igor, his brother, is ready to do battle with him to win Karina because the current leader has abdicated and a new leader and marriage must take place. In fact, Lexi is the next female to qualify for leadership. The politics are extremely heated and friends can easily become enemies.
One night of the full moon finds Karina in a battle for her life due to an encounter with humans that has compromised her very existence! From then on, Karina lives on the edge. Secrets haunt Karina. But, as usual, her best friend Lexi throws caution to the wind. Big mistake!
Destiny seems to rescue Karina when she meets Jack Hardy, a homicide detective. He cannot seem to get past Karina's beautiful eyes that change colors according to her moods.
Right from the beginning, page after page of drama and mystery will keep you up nights until all the facts are out in the open.

Young and vulnerable Karina is a Russian immigrant, dedicated to an aging grandmother who insists they keep a low profile in American by not assuming the werewolf form. She works at a local Russian cafe by day and studies to become a private investigator by night. Beguiled by her childhood sweetheart, she attends a Blue Moon howling where the pack will choose their new Alpha but the night turns deadly when a band of human hunters go out for trophies. Karina is shot, and turns into a wolf, killing the shooter. Remorse overwhelms her and she vows to never assume the werewolf form again.
Ten years later, a werewolf hunter starts killing Karina's friends and she volunteers to assist the police detective in apprehending the killer.
This book is a crisp new approach to the often stale werewolf genre. These days I've found myself thinking I'd scream if I picked up one more hackneyed, repetitive were- story. Then I came across Werewolf Interrupted and found a new take on its mythology. The integration of Russian and werewolf culture with American human culture creates a fascinating and believable backdrop for these story events.
As the hunter stalks Karina and her entourage of unique characters, some fall from his silver bullets, tugging the heart and making the reader demand that the killer be brought to justice. From the grandmother Babushka to Karina's werewolf sweetheart, her best friend, and the handsome but troubled detective she works with, they come to life in a way that comes only from a deft writing hand. I was grabbed by the story from beginning to end.
Heart touching, heart wrenching and nerve tingling, this is a book well worth your time.
This book was a simple good read. Nothing crazy. The only part I had a hard time was who Karina's grandmother really is. I mean I know my history and there's enough evidence to cast doubt on the story. I know it's make believe, but still in my mind, I'm like no that person is REALLY dead. So this character cannot be her. I couldn't help but skim over the parts because I did not want to hear it. I felt like I was reading lies. Like I said, I know my history, I also LOVE my history. But it doesn't affect the story at all. It's just an interesting piece of information.
