All the characters are 3-dimensional, even children and baddies. I’m very much in love with Hank, the lead love interest. He’s a werewolf sheriff, dutiful, trained to be a fighter and such a gentleman. Swoon….
There’s unfortunately no sex scene which doesn’t detract from the fully rounded romance story, although I personally prefer to at least look through the keyhole into my characters’ bedroom. Just sayin’.
I was particularly impressed by a really impressive plot twist that I really didn’t see coming. Painter builds up expectations and brings them crashing down on the reader. Just awesome.
Course I’ve gone and downloaded the next book which features Nick the Gargoyle plus you get to purchase the Audible version for $1.99. This deal isn’t available for The Werewolf Meets His Match so I didn’t get to listen to the audio book.
I’m really looking forward to exploring the world of Nocturne Falls in more detail!
It was, in a word, a Blast. I loved the town of Nocturne Falls, where Halloween is 365-days-a-year. What better way for witches, weres, vamps and all the other supernaturals to live their lives without fear of notice by the norms?
The books are $4.99 a piece, and with my tiny book budget and the plethora of less expensive books out there I hadn’t picked up another. But I finally broke down and bought The Werewolf Meets His Match and it was just as much fun as VMOB.
Hank Merrow, sheriff of Nocturne Falls and alpha’s heir, has always known that he would probably have to enter into an arranged marriage. Just part and parcel of being in his position. Sigh. But when he is notified that, not only is he going to have to have an arranged marriage, but it is to one of the bloody Kincaid Women (HORROR!) the temptation to back out of the whole deal is strong. But Hank is a good man, an honorable one, and his people don’t need another war. So, Suck it up, Buttercup, and marry the heathen already. Only, things may not be just exactly what they seem . . .
Ivy Kincaid’s first intro to Hank is from the other side of jailhouse bars. Well Hank isn’t really surprised by that. She is a Kincaid after all. But Ivy is just full of surprises. And the more Hank learns, the more he begins to think that things just may not be as bad as he expected. And when Hank learns Ivy’s secrets, he will soon discover that, lawman or not, some things are worth killing for.
I adored Ivy, her charming secret, and goofy, lovable Hank and his family. If you haven’t tried this series, check out the first one, it is only .99 on Amazon. Bet you get hooked as well! This one gets five stars. I adore Ivy, and her story made me want to stand right beside her and fight. Someone give me a map to Nocturne Falls - I want to live there!
I really adore this series. All the characters have such unique stories that you will want to know more about them all ASAP. I like how each book has a dual point of view and how it follows a different character in each book. Yet you get to see characters from past books too.
This book lets you learn more about the werewolves in town. Hank’s the sheriff but also next in line to be the Alpha wolf. With being a future Alpha politics definitely come into play. He quickly finds out that he has to get married to cement a truce between two packs.
Ivy, the wolf he has to marry has plenty of trouble to deal with even beyond the whole arranged marriage deal. Let’s just say her father is not exactly the nicest guy. Ivy is not really who you would expect a cop to marry but that’s what makes it really interesting.
Their chemistry is great. You’ll probably see some of the problems before they happen and figure out some of the twists but I doubt you find them all.
The final act of the book was full of surprises and I really like where everything and everyone ended up. I foresee some more interesting developments in future books. I can’t recommend this series enough especially if you like paranormal romances with a great concept and characters.
Genre: Paranormal rom-com
Although this is the second book in the Nocturn Falls series, it works as a stand-alone. Background about the town where Halloween is celebrated 24/7 is handled well, in that those who read the first book don't get a verbatim repeat from that. The town is a place where the paranormal is normal, and this story focuses on the sheriff, Hank Merrow. He is the son of the Alpha werewolf of the Geotgia pack and has lived his life to prepare for the role, including military and law enforcement experience. He never pursued a serious romantic relationship because he knew that someday his marriage would be arranged for political reasons. That day has come, because the Alpha of the Tennessee pack is calling in a debt.
The Kinkaids are known to be old school werewolves in that Clemens Kinkaid rules everything and everyone. He's very misogiynistc, making his wife and daughter his property, keeping them under his thumb. The pack has both legitimate business dealings, as well as those that are not. So he decides to get rid of a couple of problems by marrying off his only daughter,mIvy, to a pack has a better rep than his. She arrives n Nocturn Falls just 3 days before the full moon, when they have to marry. Ther have 3 days to get to know one another before the deed is done. But Ivy has secrets, and Hank and to know what they are.
Ms Painter's writing is a delight, without grammatical errors. The 2 points of view were handled well. Overall a great use of time and money.
