"Werewolves" is a unique book in two ways. In a book market gradually becoming saturated with werewolf stories, this is among a minority of graphic novels. The art compliments the text well in tone and color. It's detailed enough without dipping into a too juvenile or cartoon quality, yet the content isn't too bloody and grotesque to a point where appropriateness can be questioned. The art itself is also very versatile as it tends to shift between pleasant tones (a caring mother cooking inked in warm colors) and horror (transformation sequences and enraged wolves drawn in gritty-pencil style). Also, if you think paranormal romance has been done to death, this book is a real treat. You won't find teenagers brooding over love interests in this book. The story delivers exactly what the title promises.
