The only problem with this popper is that I believe the company has discontinued this product :-( Get them while they are available.
First of all, the popcorn burns instantly. In the old popper, we could let the rod continue to circulate while the last few seeds were popping. With this version, the rest of the popcorn is already burning by the time the last finish.
We have also had an issue with our oil to seed ratio. This one seems to take more oil and still burns it off faster than our old one. What you end up with is slightly burnt, flavorless popcorn. I really wanted to use this one as much as our old one, but unfortunately, it's just not as great.
The bowl is definitely thicker than the old popper's bowl, which may prevent it from cracking as easily as our last one did.
It does have a removable tray bottom which makes it easier to clean. However, that doesn't matter if you don't use it anymore because it burns your popcorn.
Guess we need to buy an old version popper again!
