Jared Westin is the creator of the Titan Group, an elite ops organization. He knows his job and he does it well. He chooses from the best of the best and they get their job done. He knows how to keep his emotions at bay, stick to the plan and complete his classified missions like no other ops team. But nothing could have prepared him for the deep under cover ATF agent Lilly Chase, who up until recently had only been known to him as "Sugar."
When Sugar outed herself as an ATF agent to make an arrest for Jared and his team, she was fired. To get her mind off the one person she shouldn't be thinking about, she took a job with Jared's biggest rival in Afghanistan. Little did she know that she had become collateral damage and was becoming more than just an inconvenience to the men she took down as an ATF agent. When the mission went south, she found herself in a precarious position. Little did she know that this mission would change her life in unimaginable ways.
I absolutely devoured this book. Cristin Harber has a way of creating memorable characters. They will stick with you long after you put the book down. I can't wait to read more from this incredible series!
PS- Jeffrey Kafer does a fantastic job of narrating this story. His talents only enhanced Cristin's brilliant work. I am becoming a huge fan of his as well after listening to this series.
Jared knows what he wants. He wants Sugar. Their encounters are full of heat, sizzle and a little something else that neither one wants to identify just yet. When they are in the same room - sparks are a flying.
Sugar stays away from Jared on purpose. She knows what her body craves and does not want to give in and look weak. Around him it is hard to control her reactions or her mouth. They are either fighting or kissing. Which one does she prefer?
Jared has to stay in control since he has a crapload of private mercenaries, mostly former military, to command. He can never show weakness. Love is a possible weakness but around Sugar, he seems he has no choice. She always seems to leave the room when he is around. He wants her to stay and he wants to touch her.
After he rescues Sugar and the little girl in her care from certain death, he is forced to admit to himself how much they have come to mean to him. Can he and sugar stay in the same room long enough to work things out?
This is book # 3 of the Titan sereis by Cristin Harber. See more about the Titan series at GOODREADS. Great series with strong characters that are a joy to read!
The much awaited romance between Titan owner Jared Westin and former ATF Agent Sugar was a huge hit. If you haven't read the Titan series you can start here or with Winters Heat or Garrisons Creed.
Suspense, action, and romance blow-up the pages of Westin's Chase and I'd expect no less from Cristin Harber. If you have read the previous stories, you'd expect no less seeing as this is Jared and Sugar's story ... I mean the world should implode, right?
I do have to say though, I could have sworn Sugar was a blonde all this time. Either I never paid attention, since she's remained a fairly minor character, or she dyed her hair at some point. Not important at all but it was strange since I saw her as a busty blonde.
Back to the story. As always, no spoilers, but I was surprised at the side arc. This wasn't the first time Cristin has managed to surprise me, but I really loved how she wrapped up the Afghanistan twist. Favorite scene? Jared as a babysitter. Oh my I laughed out loud and had tears. Where's Elmo? lol
There's quite a bit of suspense in this one, but not so much with the romance. Plenty of tension there too, but it's a nail biter as you wind down. As with all 5 star reads, I put the book down and prayed it would magically grow more pages. You don't want the Titan Novels to end. You really don't want to put them down, but you do, for like one minute and then you freak out and have to know what happens.
The men are strong, the women are their equals, and in the end, nothing goes off without a big bang. Oh how I look forward to reading more.
