The 'W' Series is specifically designed for optimized personal listening, because Westone believes that music lovers should hear what the artist and producer intended when they listen to an artist's recording. Each W Series earphone contains from one to eight drivers, depending on the model, for the absolute best sensory listening experience imaginable. The patented ear tips use an ergonomic design incorporating lessons learned on fit and design gathered over the last five decades of manufacturing millions of products for the human ear. Along with providing extreme comfort, the ear tips isolate ambient noise to provide the utmost clarity.
Choose From W10, W20, W30 or W40
Using a unique single balanced armature driver, the W10 is a universal-fit in-ear monitor that is tuned specifically for listening to mastered, recorded music. It is a great first-level option and a perfect upgrade to unlock the potential of your music device. The W10 uses the same advanced technology found in Westone's iconic ES Series and delivers extraordinary detail.
A true dual-driver in-ear monitor tuned for listening to mastered, recorded music, the W20 is the world's smallest dual driver design. A separate bass and high frequency balanced armature drivers enhance your listening experience with incredible detail and dynamics.
With a triple driver design, the W30 uses separate bass, mid-range and high frequency balanced armature drivers in conjunction with an advanced 3-way crossover for a truly awesome personal listening experience. Based on the W3, the world's first universal-fit 3-way, 3-driver earpiece, the W30 has been redesigned to provide extraordinary quality sound and exceptional comfort from our silicone or foam ear tips.
The Westone W40 Quad-Driver in-ear headphone will take your listening experience to an entirely new level. Four balanced armature drivers and a 3-way crossover network deliver breathtaking clarity and realism. Westone's ear tip technology provides superior ergonomics and comfort. Westone's 50+ years of experience with in-ear applications has yielded a low-profile, lightweight, universal earpiece which delivers maximum comfort and in-ear coupling for dynamic transfer of sound. Today, Westone has expanded its in-ear product line to provide unparalleled sound quality for all on-stage musicians, as well as for casual listeners who want a high-fidelity sound experience.
Established in 1959 as a custom-fit earpiece manufacturer, Westone has become known worldwide as 'The In-Ear Experts.' From its roots of working with hearing health professionals to produce custom-fit products for hearing aids and protection, Westone has expanded into offering consumer audio products and is the world's premier designer of high performance in-ear musicians' monitors and earphones.
Westone became a master of audio technology as the result of requests from popular rock musicians in the early 1990s. They wanted the ability to hear specific instruments or vocals while on stage yet reduce overall stage volume to protect their hearing. As a solution, Westone created the first balanced armature driver in-ear monitor that became the standard for professional musicians.

Hear what you’ve been missing with your stock ear buds. A single balanced armature driver delivers high fidelity sound reproduction. Using the same advanced technology found in Westone's iconic ES Series, the W10 delivers extraordinary detail and clarity. Westone's 50+ years of experience with in-ear applications has yielded a low-profile, lightweight, universal earpiece which delivers maximum comfort and in-ear coupling for dynamic transfer of sound. A replaceable cable connection includes the braided EPIC cable and round MFi cable with 3-button Apple Control System and mic function, including volume +/- , tracking +/- , phone answer, and Siri activation. Westone's balanced armature drivers are significantly more compact and efficient than traditional dynamic drivers. Westone earphones provide enhanced sonic detail and frequency range that extends well beyond typical in-ear solutions. Exchangeable black, blue and red color faceplates are included with secure attachment. Each set of W10 headphones comes with an EPIC Replaceable cable and MFi G2 cable, premium comfort tips, mini-monitor vault, cleaning tool, and 2-year warranty. The Mini Monitor Vault is constructed of a high-impact polymer and is the perfect size for travel and storage. It features a protective foam interior and weather resistant design. The Westone W10 in-ear headphones are ideal for vocal harmony and pop music. Make sure you try all the eartips provided to find the correct fit and comfort for you. If the eartip is too small and doesn’t create a complete seal inside your ear canal you will lose low end frequencies. Choose the largest tip that is still comfortable for you. You may even need a different size tip for each ear. Make sure the right earpiece is worn on the right ear and the left earpiece on the left ear. The earpieces are marked, and when worn the cable should point to your front and wrap around to the back of your ear.
Top customer reviews
After using them around 10 months, the left started "cutting out" on me intermittently. After some troubleshooting, I concluded that there was corrosion die to wear of the gold coating + sweat on the connection jack between the cable and the housing causing the bad connection (just my hunch, not verified by Westone). Returned to Westone according to their return protocol with a printout of my Amazon invoice. (Did not mention my sweat hypothesis.) Seven days later, I'm listening to Michael Jackson and writing this review. No questions asked. I will try to avoid sweating on the replacements.
Out of the box they sound phenomenal. Very warm with good bass. Unfortunately that's where the positives end. The mic cable that comes with the buds is pretty bad. They just never stay looped behind my ears. They always want to come off. Luckily they provide another braided cable that stays behind the ear much better but moving cables from these buds is next to impossible for me. I've tried so many different ways when I finally got them off I felt like I damaged something. And this is only a few days in.
The braided cable is much more comfortable. I understand those who want a mic may not like it but I don't mind the omission. Shortly after swapping the cable I started hearing static in the left earbud and then the sound would cut off and on repeatedly. This was happening during movement so I guessed I need to reseat the cable. After another battle getting the cable out and putting it back in the problem went away but came back after a couple of days so I went to Westone support. To their credit they were super responsive and recommended sending them in. I did as instructed but I was pretty bummed about having to pay to ship them and then the 7 day turnaround for buds I've had for about 3 weeks in.
I got the new buds and everything was great for a month until the problem resurfaced. At this point I just regulated them to backup buds and went back to the Etymotics. Fast forward two months and the Etymotics finally succumbed to the frayed cable. Pulled the Westones out and tried to reseat the cable and it broke. *sigh*
I'll reach out to support again and they'll help me out but at this point I'm so disappointed in these. As I said before they sound GREAT but all the other issues aren't just worth it to me. Knowing what I know now I would have just bought another pair of Etymotics. I feel one shouldn't have these issues at this price point.
The bass in the W30 doesn't sound weaker than the Westone3 at all; it's very strong, I even think it's a little stronger than the Westone3, but that's probably because I was using the Westone3 with the Shure black foam tips, which are a little shorter than the typical Westone ear tips.
The new silicon and foam tips are great too. I use the spare ones on my Shure SE310 and SE530 which work wonderfully.
After some research on in-ear monitors, I kept coming back to the Westones as the best choice for the money. But what about sound quality?
One problem with in-ear monitors is the lack of opportunity to "try before you buy". Understandable, since I wouldn't want so put anything in my ear that may have been used by someone else. So you're basically at the mercy of other people's recommendations or a great marketing campaign when choosing what's right for you.
I found many great reviews on different musician forums regarding the Westone W30 so I took a chance and ordered a set. Now all I can say is WOW!
The clarity and punch of the W30's is absolutely amazing. Everything I need in my monitor mix is right there; from the lowest bass parts to the highest "pings" of a cymbal. Vocals and guitar--dead on. All the ambient noise gone! And no microphone feedback from the old wedges!!!
Lots of ear pieces included and after some experimenting easily found the ones that fit perfect. Cable was a bit short (for my needs) and feels a little flimsy but Westone does offer replacement cables for when the inevitable happens.
Just wish I had purchased these years ago. Worth every dollar spent.
