She has just left her cheating husband with nothing but the clothes on her back and her car. She ends up in a small beachside town and her first introduction to Kane does not go over well. He is drawn to her immediately and cannot fight his urge to want to claim her.
After they share a passionate night together, Kane all but disappears. He must decide if he will fight his feelings or try and work on building a relationship with Meadow. The main themes were two lost and broken souls trying to mend eachothers broken hearts. The title is aptly named as this is one hot read.
What I liked: 1) the characters were easy to like and understand, this is important to me as I want to at least empathize with the character I'm reading. 2)The overall plot, woman leaves cheating husband to start fresh and meets hunky man in an outta the way city. This was appealing for me as there are plenty of times were people would love to just get up and go somewhere to start over again. 3) The diary entries. I found this a fun way to see the inner workings of a guys mind. A lot of guys don't feel comfortable stating what they really want, so I found these entertaining as well as hot as hell.
What I didn't like: 1)the pacing, way to fast for me. I like some build up and with that a deeper character development. Kane and Meadow seemed to jump from hating each other to ripping their clothes off to back to hating each other. It was a little mind boggling for me as I don't take that in real life so it was difficult for me to see the characters falling in love. 2)Editing mistakes, I had to reread a couple of parts to make sure I didn't read something wrong.
So overall, its not a bad story and there are some really hot sex scenes.
*Note: there was a second book included in the edition I have called Wife Me Bad Boy. The book is about Lacey and Grant, these characters are very briefly mentioned in Wet so I was curious about them. Unfortunately I really couldn't connect to these characters at all. The entire time Lacey was just trying to get someone to marry her and Grant was running away from his feelings for Lacey. It was very aggravating as again the pacing was fast and I was torn between disgust and dismay that Lacey would allow anyone to treat her the way she was treated by her boyfriend. This particular book was definitely not for me and while I don't mind a needy female character this was beyond that for me personally.
Kane and Meadow each have damaged hearts they must work around (and through), to be able to move forward in their individual lives. Especially if they ever hope to find real happiness.
Meadow's ex, Matt has messed up Meadow's self esteem and her life in major ways. Can Meadow ever really get Matt out of her mind, emotions and her life? When and how will Matt learn and accept the 'ex' title?
Kane lives in fantasies in his diary, and with memories that threaten to drown him forever in fear and sorrow. Something so painful, that no one will even talk about it. Even among themselves, those closest to Kane.
How will all of the characters in this book, especially Kane and Meadow, be able to overcome the obstacles before them to find a lasting love?
CC has written a unique and beautiful story. I highly recommend this book. I will be buying all of his books.
