Sadly, Brian died a few days ago from complications related to his brain tumor. It's a tremendous loss. I hope some day one of his children writes his biography. He's one of the most interesting writers I have ever read.
Part poet and artist he shows his talent quickly telling of Doctor Dave's life--who, at the time the book was written had been married for "five dogs."
Moving and uplifting, his story has a happy ending, leaving the reader with "Donations, Involvement & Information;" which includes listings of addresses and emails of organizations that could use more help.
My highschool writing teacher told me that you need to write about something you know or are close to. Evidently Doyle understands this as all his writing is deeply personal and close to home.
