The Whalesong I read previously and the one I read this time are as different as night and day.
With his first novels Mr. Compton proved he could write action packed thrillers. With this version of Whalesong he has proved, to me at least, that he can also write a tale one can immerse oneself in and actually feel what the characters are feeling and see the things around them.
I am looking forward to a sequel, as seems indicated by the last pages, which will, I am sure, be as well written as has been Whalesong.
So, why did I only give it four stars? I've got to leave something for the sequel, don't I?
