I just found out that Amazon charges you more for some products just because you're a Prime customer. Someone told me about that so I checked for myself. I compared a couple of products on Amazon.com from my computer to Amazon.com on another computer where I wiped out all the cookies. And sure enough, I get lower prices if I'm not a Prime customer....for some items. I'm not sure how they decide which products they'll charge more for. I guess Amazon thinks higher prices is one of the benefits of Prime membership......for them at least. I'll probaby still keep my Prime membership because I like the 2 day shipping, but I'll do more price comparisons before I just buy blindly from Amazon.

DO NOT BUY THE MEMBERSHIP FOR $80!. I recently bought this to compare vs Netflix. Netflix keeps taking off programming that my kids and I are currently watching. We were getting very upset with the lack of good movies and tv shows so I purchased Amazon Prime subscription. I was thinking that $80 a year vs cost of Netflix rented for a year was a good idea, Boy was I wrong. So far any movie I have wanted to to watch cost extra between $2.99 to $7.99 per movie. Why does the cost more? I rented "The Fish that Saved Pittsburgh" and we could not watch it on our LG smart tv! My kids and I are not huddling around a damn computer to watch a movie. My boys and I watched the first episode of Red vs Blue which was a total disappointment. I am very upset with the purchase. I am not renewing for next year unless some drastic changes in programming and ease of use occur.

pure promo material; only positive aspects of Prime. Just meant to make you sign up. I read the 'book'. Ha! Less than 20 pages. This stuff should be provided for everyone on their web site; why make people pay for this vague info? No instructions on how to actually gain access to 'free' books & movies. Very disappointing. As far as the Prime service goes (I've used it for 11 months now), prices for Prime items are a few bucks more than if you get the same exact item from Amazon (but not Prime) but without the "free" shipping.

The free 2 day shipping is great, the kindle "borrow a book" once a month is great, the discounted books are great. However, the STREAMING SERVICE IS TERRIBLE. I have a 4G router from Clear, my internet provider. I watch the video via my TV. I have never been able to watch even one 30-min episode without the service rebuffering more than once or completely kicking me out of the show currently being viewed. And when it does that, the service doesn't retain the furthest point of viewing. You have to start over from the beginning and fast forward to where you were, which again, causes more buffering problems. Not all of the video is included in your Prime membership fee either. Newer content comes with a per view fee.

Paying $7.99 for thousands of streaming content on Netflix without re-buffering issues is still a better deal.

WTF!!

You want me to pay to learn about Kindle Prime Membership.
I am really pissed at Amazon for this marketing ploy. I always thought that Amazon was a great company---not anymore

Why are there no review of Amazon Prime? Because they wouldn't be good. My daughter received a Kindle as a gift. She's an oncology patient and we have lots of down time waiting for treatments and doctors. I thought it would be awesome if she could watch her favorite shows on the kindle. Turns out you pay $80 for the "membership" and then every single show costs an extra $2, $3 or $4. There are lots of free shows for babies. If you want to watch Dora the Explorer you're all set. My daughter is 12 and there are NO shows for free that would interest her. I feel like I just got my pocket picked. If you have a tween or teen you will be sorely disappointed. I know that I am.

I don't quite understand why I have to pay $2.99 to find out whether or not I want to join amazon prime. There should be information available for free. I believe it might work for me, but I don't think I should have to pay for details. I would love to find this information availble so I can make a decision before paying for anything.

Beware of Amazon Prime. Amazon tricks you by implying that the instant videos are free and most of them are not.
