About the Author
Gyo Fujikawa (1908-1999) made a career in the advertising world and also enjoyed a lengthy stint at the Walt Disney Studios where she designed the large book version of Fantasia. In 1957, she illustrated her first picture book, A Child's Garden of Verses 9781402750625. Many others followed, some of which she also wrote. Babies 9781402756993, first published in 1963, stands as a landmark: it was the first children's book to depict infants of all races and nations sharing growing experiences. Fujikawa's books have been translated into 17 languages and are read in more than 22 countries.

1. Babes in the Woods - has lovely illustrations with a morbid story. I chose to reword the rhyme in order to keep the illustration. However I would never read this story to my child as is.
2. Susie's Secrets - encourages keeping secrets. As a parent that wants create and encourage open lines of communication. I eliminated those lines from the book as well.
3. It's Okay - essentially this section basically says it's okay to be mean, unkind or have a bad attitude if you are sorry later. Again, not traits that I wish to encourage in my child as the message isn't one of remorse but rather seems to use "sorry" as a simple fix to bad behavior. I eliminated/reworked much of the text from this section as well.
If these three sections had different verbiage this book would be much improved.
It looks like all of the text was reset, and so far I've found one passage completely missing. ("Fuzzy wuzzy was a bear.") It also has a much wider leading, so the proportions are off.
This is a visual book, so I was very disappointed that this was such a poor reproduction.
