After the intriguing parting shot from Zack at the end of the second book, What Have We Done leads in with a heated conversation overheard by Kate between Zack and Keke, and is shocked to learn that Zack is a suicide agent. Zack desperately tries to explain why and to deliver a vital message to Kate but is arrested before he can. The scene then jumps 12 years later as Keke and Kate prepare for her daugher Silver's 16th birthday party. Things start to fall apart as first, her son Mally's beloved robotic dog goes haywire, then reports start to come in about AI robotics turning on humans throughout the city. This kicks off a war as roving bands destroy anything with artificial intelligence while looting and pillaging in the streets and Kate must reach her children to take them to a place of safety before they are attacked.
As the story progresses, all the threads of the first two books are cleverly woven together into a clear picture as the shocking truth is revealed and seemingly unconnected things now start to make perfect sense . But for Kate to do what is expected of her to save them all will take a huge leap of faith into the unthinkable.
I'll say again, this final in the series is the best yet - full of heart-stopping action, gut wrenching decisions and ah-ha! moments. I only wish the series were longer, I'm not yet ready to say good bye!
"What Have We Done" is book 3 in the series and is absolute perfection of a read.
A couple of days ago I was locked into the book when the skies above me actually turned yellow - it was a very eerie experience and made the book even more poignant to me.
Characters we have grown to love are in this book too as we travel through their adventures with them.
This is the first science fiction series that I've read and I've absolutely devoured and loved it from start to finish. An amazing read which I highly recommend.
We meet up with beloved characters with a couple of new characters that will draw you into this epic tale of what can happen in the future. This thrilling heart racing Dystopian-Thriller makes you sit back and think and realise what Lawrence has concocted isn't such a far-fetched idea.
For this reader who usually stats away from thrillers, I can guarantee you, this book will keep even the technophobes on their toes or give them new fears of technology, either way, this was fast-paced read. Reaching the end of the story I found myself shocked and cursing Lawrence, the reveal, in the end, blew my mind. This is exactly what I will now always expect from Lawrence. Her writing as always is beautiful, she can pick any genre and I will gladly follow along.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - I love JTL's brand of sci-fi. I'm not a sci-fi fan by any means, but this dystopian series set in the...Read more
