WHAT DREW ME IN: A Daddy/Boy story.
While there are many Daddy/boy stories What he needs stands out. You will not regret picking this book up. I will do my best to make this spoilers free.
WHAT WORKED: Craig, with a wounded heart, wasn't over the top. It's a tricky balance to keep a character from falling into annoying when it comes to being hurt from a previous relationship. Does not happen here. Craig while not having any closure, knows that he needs to move on, wants to move on even. and while in his relationship with Alan, he does have things that make him worry, it was a perfect balance of them working it out, and even getting said closure. Also, Craig, from basically page one, is not one to back down. while he may be a sub, he DOES stand up for himself and its VERY refreshing. I personally think while this was Craig and Alan's book, Craig shined the brightest.
Alan was very much awesome and understanding. he understood and helped Craig work out doubts and issues. There was ONE line from him that just...mmm just SO perfect for someone like Craig. My favorite thing about Alan was that he realized he didn't need to come in and save Craig, that wasn't what craig needed. it was so good to see a Dom let a sub stand up for himself. sometimes that moment can be the greatest gift you can give some one. now let's hit the nasty bits, which thankfully isnt really a lot.
WHAT DIDN'T WORK: tim! tim! tim! you want a character to really hate, look no further. (so i guess in a sense it DID work but..shh) my only thing is that you spend like 80% of this book hating what this character did to Craig, so it was a little strange for me that near the end, we learn what really happened and its a bit of a sob story. if people start demanding a story for Tim, (looks at EM) its her own fault! personally sad sob story aside, what tim did..there's absolutely no redeeming him. (i wont give spoilers just read it to see what i mean) I would have like if she had twisted it around to where tim's story was trying to manipulate Craig,(that way tim could stay the bad guy) but we still get a happy ending and Craig get's his closure.
Craig is a young man who is lost and alone after a breakup. He finally manages to go to a BDSM club, looking for a Dom. What he didn't expect was to run into his ex at this club. But he also meets the club's owner, Alan. Alan spotted Craig as soon as he walked into the club and was immediately drawn to him. This is a story of a man looking who is broken, lost and looking for love and someone to take care of him. And another who found something he didn't even knew he needed.
This is not your typical BDSM story. This book is different. Think of everything you think is "normal" and throw it out the window. Whatever you expected was chucked out and turned on it's head to give you something different. And I simply loved it. It was refreshing to read something so well written that didn't follow the norm. EM wrote this so well, I'm surprised she hasn't written MM before. It was well paced, well developed characters and gave me all the feels. The secondary characters also stood out for me, and I am eagerly awaiting for the next book. All in all, well done EM on a wonderful book.
The sex is super hot, too. Super, duper hot.
Looking forward to Steve and Matt's story, as well as Everett's.
Here is a quote from the book, “You’ve been so good, and so sweet, but you’ve also had a really long, hard day, haven’t you, boy? “Yes, sir.” “Tonight, I’m going to hold you and we’re going to go to sleep. In the morning I’m going to make you the best cup of coffee you’ve ever had and then we’re going out for breakfast.”. There is more but you will need to read the book which I can highly recommend. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.
