She is quite like I was before my Lupus hit. If I was hurting, if my emotions were taut, I threw myself into work and tried to ignore it or fake it. Never really worked but hey it was the way that I coped.
The ending was shocking but so well written that it did mesh with the tidbits left in other books. While you don't have to read the other books to fully enjoy this one, the other books leave little bread crumbs that help you look forward to learning where they finally are resolved.
James and Emily are opposites in every way, except their "sluttiness". I love how they keep butting heads and wanting to one-up one another! Throw in the "Widow Makers" and "Clean Slates" and things get real interesting!
James is charming and roguish and absolutely yummy! We get a nice bit of his childhood explained too. I would have liked to know a bit more about Emily's past.
I'm about to dig in to Dane's story... Can't wait!
Now that Elliot Michaels (from the first book) has decided to buy the Stars Landing Inn he sends in his brother James to take over the renovations to update it. He had no idea what he was in for with the fiery redhead that currently runs it.
We’ve known James since the first book. He is the spoiled little brother who has never set roots down anywhere and just goes from woman to woman. His new sister in law is best friends with Emily who has been running the Inn since the owner who took her in as a teenager died. She has all the personality traits that go along with being a red head and she doesn’t like this smooth talking fancy dressing ladies man trying to come in and take over her Inn.
These two clash right away but there is also some major sexual sparks that fly between them that Emily tries hard to fight. I think this was the funniest book in the series but it also had some serious moments and a cringe worthy mistake from James. But even with that mistake I think that James is now my favorite man of all the books. I still have one more book in the series to go so that may change but right now James is at the top..
Emily is a little bristly at the first of this story, and hard to warm up to, but she thaws out as the story progresses, and we find out more about her background. James is completely adorable. He's a sweetheart of a flirt. All women he encounters blush and giggle around him, no women are immune it seems, until he encounters his Innkeeper Emily. She's not going to give in like the rest of the gigglers she's working with, and she puts on a hard shell, but secretly he is knocking down her defenses and getting under her skin.
It's cute watching this couple knock heads, and then finally give into their desires for each other. There's old boyfriends monkey-wrenching into the couple's relationship, as well as a thieving mystery in the background of the story. Best of all, this story ends with a very Happily Ever After!

I also love it when the author can make me hate the character for a little while, that's just mad writing skills!
