"If you've ever wished you could peek inside the secret desires of your husband...now is your chance. Melanie has clearly illustrated what every husband wishes his wife knew. The only regret you'll have in reading this book is that you didn't read it earlier in your marriage."
—Lysa TerKeurst, author and President of Proverbs 31 Ministries
"In What a Husband Needs from His Wife, author Melanie Chitwood wraps the timeless biblical principals of marriage with humor and transparency and then delivers their powerful message that the rest of your marriage can be the best part of your marriage. Instead of sidestepping tough and often painful marital issues, Melanie openly shares her own struggles and victories. She draws on the wisdom of couples who have successfully dealt with those issues and, as a result, now experience the kind of marriage relationship God intends. This book is helpful, applicable, encouraging, and a breath of fresh air! I highly recommend it!"
—Mary Southerland, speaker, author, and director of Journey Ministry, Inc.

The book could just have appropriately been titled: Choosing to Live by God's Design for Wives. Choices are everywhere. Choose to accept or reject God's design and role for a wife. Choose obedience or rejection of God's Word. Choose to submit or rebel to your husband's leadership (submission). Choose to respect or disrespect your husband. Choose to love or not. Choose to be a wife or a roommate. Choose your attitude. Choose to be gracious or angry. Choose to complain or praise. Choose to cry or laugh. Choose to walk in the flesh or in the Spirit.
The author summarizes the book well herself, "All the concepts of this book--being our husbands' helpers, loving our husbands, submitting to our husbands, respecting our husbands, choosing attitudes that build up rather than tear down our husbands--describe ways to show the world a covenant marriage. A covenant marriage always loves, always protects, and always believes [trusts] in the marriage." p. 188
The highest complement I can think of to give a book is to buy more copies for family and friends. I will do that with this book.
I came away wanting a bit more --- something along the lines of what Elizabeth George, Lisa Frisbie, or Stormie O'Martian might say on these topics. Having said that, this book is solid and well done. It's an investment you won't regret.
Like many faith-based books, this one has a rather traditional view of roles within marriage. If you're okay with that, you can learn a lot within these pages. (And you might also consider adding Shanti Feldhahn to the list above, for other reading.)
Solid help for married women, valuable reading.
