★★★★★ Review by The International Review of Books
★★★★★ "A fantastic outlook on how to BE a woman! Jacqueline outdone herself once again with her newest book. I found her authentic and realistic approach to womanhood to be refreshing and actually easy to BE. Her wisdom and relatable stories make me feel like my past, mistakes or traumas don't define me. I am gifted as a woman, and she explains that PERFECTLY! ~ Verified Review on Amazon
★★★★★ "I loved how the author laid out the premise of the book in the beginning as sort of a syllabus of what we can expect. In the beginning we are reminded that we are not just a physical being but an energetic being foremost and that is where our power lies. This was thought-provoking and I noted this to remember to apply in my daily life." ~ Verified Review on Amazon
★★★★★ "This book is not sugar coating what it means to be a woman (on the title or anywhere else). It's not all easy or glamorous and in this book, you will feel seen and heard because of the real and authentic voice of the author." ~ Verified Review on Amazon
★★★★★ "If you want to know what it really means to be a women physically and energetically and not what society expects, this is the book you should be reading." ~ Verified Review on Amazon
Jacqueline Pirtle discusses the belief fallacies both men and women have concerning what it means to be a woman. The thought-provoking questions found throughout challenge readers to examine their own beliefs about the female experience.
I was initially intrigued by the title What It Means to Be a Woman because although some experiences are universal, being a woman within different cultures may not be. I wanted to know how Ms. Pirtle experienced being a woman and how that compared to my own.
In that regard, I was not disappointed. Ms. Pirtle was very clear when she wrote about her experience of being a woman. There were even some reflective questions throughout the book that were designed for the reader to examine her own life experiences and see where she could improve her awareness and quality of life.
I enjoyed the analogy the author presented on how being a woman has a specific energy vibration distinct from being a man. I agreed with her that sometimes we get so caught up in wanting to be equal to men that we don't focus on our own powerful vibrations enough. The suggestions the author made were useful. For instance, when we align our energies, then there's no telling what we, as women, can accomplish.
Overall, I found What It Means to Be A Woman: And Yes, Women do Poop! By Jacqueline Pirtle a nifty little guide to some of the experiences women have. It provided numerous examples in which each and every woman can reflect on her own life and become more empowered through self-understanding.

I read the book in two evenings, during the quarantine, and recommend it highly to women with some time on their hands to give back to themselves. Sometimes a conversation with another woman is an act of self-care. This why is was for me. The author invites you for a chat, a candid low-key conversation. She is a spirited honest conversationalist, who invites you to reflect on being a woman, to celebrate femininity, to acknowledge pain and to move past it. The flow of the book is seamless and gentle and at the end it makes for an enlightening, poignant and funny conversation.

This is an interesting book. Like one reviewer, I also was turned off by the author’s defense of adding the bit about pooping to the title. I am not a prude or someone who takes offense easily, I just think this addition was not necessary. The book covers a lot of territory about women, which made it interesting for me. However, I found the style the author used to be a bit disjointed, jumping around and choppy. Still, there was a lot in the book of interest. I do think it was geared toward a woman who is still searching for herself or whatever. I expected a much lighter tone but realized almost from the get-go that this was not to be. There are many women out there who may and will benefit from the book, though not all women. I still think it is worth your while to give it a try, as every reader can benefit from at least some of it, and readers should be able to figure out what to latch on to and what not to. I received this book from NetGalley to read and review.

I was gifted a digital copy of What It Means to Be a Woman” by the author in exchange for my honest review.
First, I appreciate Jacqueline’s passion and honesty when she approaches her books. I enjoyed her first book, 365 Days of Happiness, because it was almost like a quick devotional; I could read a chapter, contemplate the advice, and insert the advice into my day.
WIMTBAW, however, seemed repetitive to me. I appreciated Pirtle’s vulnerability when sharing about her own experiences, but I found many of the chapters to be saying the same thing. I felt like some paragraphs were copied verbatim from earlier chapters.
Because of this, I did not finish the book. I found Pirtle’s advice and questions to the reader to be thoughtful and important to becoming comfortable with oneself, but the format of this book just wasn’t for me.
I do encourage readers to formulate their own opinions, because while this particular work wasn’t my favorite, I always appreciate Pirtle’s clear zeal for life and for encouraging other women. Her voice and message are important to share with any woman who is discovering herself and her purpose.

I've always found Jacqueline Pirtle's books to be very interesting, light, fun, and sweet, and this book was no different from her previous two. I did find it interesting that someone would talk about women pooping, not a topic you'd typically hear at the dinner table nor in discussion with your besties. However, it was an exciting and yet short topic of conversation, one in which would be interesting to discuss in regards to men's thoughts on women doing it. There are many chapters in this book that will identify to any woman, no matter her background, race, or creed. I feel like there's something in here that will relate to every woman, no matter where she is on her journey, Jacqueline has a chapter for it! Excellent read.

This was thought-provoking and I noted this to remember to apply in my daily life.
"You can understand, find solutions and overcome anything on the soul level and space of consciousness." This really helped me in my daily life.
I also really like the chapter on balancing all aspects of the self-physical, energetic, soul and consciousness.
The chapter on compassion and empathy really opened my eyes to a new perspective and I found that to be one of the most helpful chapters to apply to my daily life.
I found this book refreshing and full of good, useful information. Would recommend to all of the women in my life!

This book takes a unique perspective in the self-help book realm with a particular focus on women and the energy and purpose women have in life. The author, Jacqueline, integrates many of her personal experiences in the book. There are a few meditation practices and prompts scattered throughout the book as well, which are helpful to incorporate into life if that is something of interest to you as well.
The chapter I enjoyed most was centered around saying “No.” The power of how we say these words as well as the meaning behind them is important. I also enjoyed the special story in this chapter as well. It is a good example of not relying on others to make you feel a certain way as we have the power to control how we feel.
While the book is welcoming and full of positive energy, one criticism is the lack of inclusive language throughout the book. There is one chapter focused on LGBTQ individuals and identities, however enforcing this message throughout the book is important. Personally, I would have moved this chapter closer to the beginning to set the stage and help individuals who identify as a womxn relate from the beginning as opposed to the end of the book.
Overall, this book is a great read if you are someone who enjoys smaller chapters and may like navigating to certain chapter titles that speak to you. We are all continuously working to find our purpose in life.

Makes you realize how you actually see yourself as a woman
Reviewed in Canada on June 2, 2020Verified Purchase
For a lot of us thinking of being a woman has polarized views often categorized as feminine, delicate and old fashioned OR feminist, strong 'I can do anything!' mentality. Whichever camp you roll with, Jacqueline's book has some very profound questions and pushes us to think about areas that are often uncomfortable. In some cases you might disagree or skip a chapter because it's not you BUT for most of the book, all it wants to translate is that how can you vibrate beautiful powerful feminine energy that's in you and doesn't depend on ANY external voices.
You will learn more about how to ignite that powerful feminine energy regardless of what is happening outside yourself. And that's the power of this book!
