From the Author
Trained as a poet, my professional life has focused on writing nonfiction books about healthcare, along with articles for newspapers such as The Washington Post. In January 2015, my grandmother died, and I found myself too bereft to seek comfort in words--so I began to draw, encouraged by a group of artists I'd connected with on Facebook. Soon, I had drawn an entire collection of images inspired by images of my own girlhood, and my deep and enduring love for both of my grandmothers, and my mother.
