I've used other journals to record the books I've read and so far, for me, this journal has been the best.

About 85% of the journal is utilized for recording just what the title suggests--those books that you've read--with space on each page for thoughts and comments. Scattered throughout these pages (after approx. every 15th entry), there are two pages dedicated to a variety of topics, such as "Books I want to read" or "Authors I adore" or "Quotes to remember." In many other journals I've used, extra sections like these are given pages and pages of space that I've never used. Two pages for such sections seems just enough, so that the rest of the journal can be used merely as a record of one's readings.

The journal is small (about 4 inches by 3.5 inches) and light weight, making it good for toting around. It's also nicely presented. Additionally, scattered throughout the journal are short quotes or tidbits about reading, stories or books.

The downside of the journal: Some readers may find that the five lines offered for comments is not enough. Also, there are not tabs delineating each new section, so it may be a little bit of a search to find those titles or thoughts recorded under sections like "Books I want to read" or "Stories I want to share."

I would buy this journal again.

I read all the reviews of various book journals, ordered 3 and kept this one. It is very portable and simple. The criticism that it's hard to find the special sections like "Recommendations" is valid -- I fixed this by adding my own little sticky post-it note tabs on the edges of pages I might want to be able to find. I find that I don't have a whole lot to say about each book so there's enough room on each page for my needs -- I just make a few notes, I'm not writing a review or complex analysis. If you need prompting questions or wish to write a lot about every book, this one is probably not for you.

Personally I found this to be the perfect book journal for me. The other 20 or so I browsed had too many guidelines and questions to answer for each entry. I wanted simplicity: title, author, date, 5 star rating, and the rest of space set aside for thoughts. What sets this journal apart from the others is that its not filled with unnecessary lists of american classics and too much direction in what to write down about each book. If you're looking for a way to just keep track of what you read and jot down a couple thoughts this is it. I only wish it had more pages.

I have been using this style of journal for the last 3 years. I love it, there is room for many books, great way of keeping up with what I've read. My only complaint is the elastic band used to keep the book closed. Mine snapped after a couple of weeks of (gentle) use. Other than that, I have no complaints. =]

I've used this compact mini journal for about a year and a half. The design is fairly pleasing, and it is handy to carry away from home or unobtrusive on a desk or reading table. But I find the writing lines annoying: very wide like paper for children learning how to make their letters. If the lines were narrower, a reader could fit in much more information. As it is, the tiny volume is a handy way to record the title, author, date read, and a very brief review, but I will never buy another one.

Love this journal. Very cute convenient size (especially if you are someone who writes small, or doesn't have too too much to say) I really love the star system for coloring in with a pen. There are also prompts throughout the journal like "favorite author" "books I want to read" "quots to remember" etc. The back asks you to fill out the saddest book, funniest book, literaty character you'd date, and a few others.
Highly recommend

I love this reading journal. It is small enough to keep in my purse so whenever a book is recommended by a friend I can jot it down and will remember later what the next book I want to read is. A must have for all book lovers like me.

This is a nice way to keep track of your reading. There are also pages scattered throughout this little journal to list your favorite authors, books you would like to read and story ideas of your own.
I would have liked the actual page layout to be more user friendly. You can either write really big litters, using the lines as the designer seems to have intended., or you can split each line up and make it two lines.
This is a small product, easily fitting into a book bag or purse.
