So I moved on to other stories and poems, all very good and interesting (the essay about the woman who had pet rats particularly caught my interest), but every few stories, poems, or essays I would be drawn back to the opening story about the tornado.
By the time I finished this wonderful book, I realized that this thing that I had initially rolled my eyes at, this thing that was strange, and silly, and dangerous, and oh, so wanting to please us but would probably hurt us, this thing that had drawn me back over and over again was the metaphor for the whole darn thing because THAT’S what Loves got to do with it.
