I grew up Christian and it just never "took." After an original awakening, I took the Eastern path to much success, but still found myself comparing everything I learned with the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. But Christianity itself still left me cold. This book shows that there is at least one other person on the planet that sees the limitations and problems with Christianity in the same way I do. With many of the same solutions......
If you were raised Christian and have left because of the banality, hypocrisy, or incredibility of Christianity, this book may be for you.
If you want to read the (necessary) future of Christianity, it's all in this book.
What is Truth? is a fabulous, very destabilising (!) set of talks, which enable a very different outlook from more classic Christianity. Brother John Martin (a Benedictine monk) leads a Christian ashram in India and is a successor to Brother Bede Griffiths.
An excellent book which I probably need to re-read and re-read for things, slowly, to sink in to my Western analytical mind!
