I really was excited to start reading this book, thinking it would be full of smart, well-crafted essays that would truly make you think (you know, like Bill Hick's stand-up did). So, I was deeply disappointed to find this book just to be fill with uneducated rants that spent more time worrying about fitting a new Bush joke in, then about actually making a point. Great idea, horrible execution.

Bill would be outraged. If the estate of Bill Hicks cared, I'm sure they would sue these people - but I suppose it's not worth the effort. Bill would never have said 99% of the stupid stuff in this book. "The 9/11 crashes are the ONLY ones never investigated by the FCC!" Really? The Federal Communications Commission, which regulates TV and radio stations, investigates air crashes? Okay, let's assume you meant the FAA; the FAA doesn't investigate crashes either. The NTSB does that, and they investigated the 9/11 crashes with unprecedented thoroughness. A minimum of research would have told you that, and saved you a lot of embarrassment. And that's only ONE of the really stupid, embarrassing diatribes in this book, which nobody would even look at except that Bill Hicks's name is on it. Which brings me back to the fact that Bill would be outraged -- because it's precisely this sort of exploitative nonsense -- written by an ad exec, no less -- that enraged Bill. Remember what he said to ad execs in his audiences? "Kill yourself, right now. No joke. There is no justification for your existence." This book proves he was right.

If you are a a fan of Bill Hicks, then this is probably the best piece of postmortem merchandise out there. Somehow, it just feels right, and though a few of the rants are not the greatest, most of them are dead on and perfect.

I can't think of any reason not to own this.

This is a collection of other people ranting Bill Hicks-style. That's my fault for not reading the description better! I am actually now trying to resell it!
