Amazon's serious about this. They just added $5 AIV credit as bonuses to AC3 (out next week) and Black Ops 2, so I wouldn't recommend holding out for general credit at the last minute. Switched my preorders to newegg while they got the $12 off preorder promos going.
Ryan is incorrect. The $25 dollar code can be used for preorders. Its the same as the $10 codes for the other games and I've used everyone on a preorder as soon as i get them. Usually the day after I receive game. It says you cant use them but it works.
Yes you can Ryan is mistaken, I contacted the Microsoft Store Support and asked them specifically if I could use the credit on pre-orders and they said it can be used on anything I want without restrictions.
Oh my bad. I was not entirely sure either I was just going off of what it said on their website. I preordered Assassin's Creed 3 at Amazon but im for sure gonna get Halo 4 from Microsoft if I can use the credit on a preorder.
yeah before i went 80% pc this last year, i use preorder from amazon all the time. then i say right after gears of war 3 it just went down hill and i dont even see 10$ credits anymore. sorry but i might as well just go to gamestop wallmart or best if im going to pay 60$ for it.i dont think i've gotten a console game since gears 3 actually. so many better deals elsewhere
i'm doing microsoft this time as i could use another year subscription :)
Last full priced game I remember buying on Amazon was Gears of War 3. Funny because the previous ten games or so were all from Amazon. Pre-ordered Halo 4 from the Microsoft store. You are doing this to yourself Amazon. :p
Just went to the Microsoft Store and if I pre-ordered Halo 4 & Call of Duty: Black Ops II right now I would get the following:
Halo 4 [Game] - $25 coupon for your next Microsoft Store online purchase - Halo 4 Customizable Pulse Armor Skin
Call of Duty: Black Ops II [Game] - Xbox LIVE 1600 pts Coupon - $10 coupon for your next Microsoft Store online purchase
All that for just $119.98 before taxes. Amazon gives me Halo 4 and Call of Duty: Black Ops II right now for $118.00 before taxes. A difference of $1.98, sure, but the value you get from Microsoft Store is way better than Amazon (they even do free shipping!). I've never purchased a game from anyplace online except from Amazon, but this deal is very tempting. Amazon, if you can match it I'd continue telling people your site is the best for online purchases (yes, Prime member here), but if not...well, I'd have to tell them to go elsewhere.
I used to purchase almost all of my console games via amazon.
I haven't bought any in a long time now though. I mean what's the incentive? Amazon has good CS (heads above most stores imo) but they used to offer credit, usually 20'ish for big AAA games and also 99c release date delivery. However stopping such things while stores like Microsoft/newegg/best buy do those kinds of deals makes no sense. Surely someone in their marketing team understands that having 0 incentives to pre order a game via amazon when you can do so cheaper at other stores will lose them business?
They've lost hundreds of dollars of my business because of it already.
