About the Author

Elise Normile is the mother of five and an elementary school teacher in Virginia Beach , Virginia. The author's gripping and raw tales of her first experience with death, grief, and tragedy capture the reader from the first entry, “Life Takes A Turn Towards Hell”. Elise Normile shares the suffering and pain she and her husband experienced after losing her youngest child, Charlie, who drowned at two and a half years old. The four surviving children including Charlie's twin sister, Lola, reflect a variety of complex needs and worries for their parents. They also show an inspiring amount of fight, love, and determination as they find themselves holding hope, finding faith, and chasing Charlie. The author shares her faith, her humor, and the power of family in these conversational journal entries. Elise resides with her husband, Jay, their daughter, Gaela, sons, James and Jack, Lola and Lola’s twin Charlie's precious memories in Virginia Beach, Virginia. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

As a mother who lost my 19 year old son a few months after the Normile Family lost little Charlie - I found solace and hope in reading this book. Unless you have lost a child, it is very hard to understand what a mother, father, and siblings go through after a tragedy. Words are not able to describe the pain and heartache. This family has had to endure two losses of two beautiful sons within a year. Elise has written an honest account of the tragic loss of little Charlie - her words have helped me to heal and endure my own loss and grief. Accidents happen - only God knows why. We have to keep our faith and trust in God.
This book was a blessing for me and I would recommend it to anyone who has lost a child in a tragedy. Thank you Elise for sharing your story.

I have followed this family and the tragedy this family has endured. I too have had a son pass away. A beautiful 25 year old. Losing a child rips your heart in two. I can't imagine the loss of two children. This book can help other parents deal with grief and loss and handling the unimaginable pain, thank you Ms Normile for reaching out to us by sharing your story. God bless your 2 Angels

Elise Normile is a tremendous writer. As someone who IS close to this family - not someone who just "lives near" this family, I have true insight and concrete facts concerning the tragedies that have befallen them. If you are a mother, a father, a sister, brother, grandparent or friend who has lost a loved one, this book is for you. Please do not allow the venomous review of one nasty, miserable outsider affect your decision to read this book.

I live close to this family and have followed their case closely. This is disgusting to see. This family lost their toddler to drowning because they were not supervising him. The mother then started a website to raise money. For what you ask? Good question! They raked in a ton of money off that site.

Last year, they were driving early in the morning with all of the kids in the car, and the father fell asleep behind the wheel. Their teen son, James, was killed in THAT crash.

This is not a family for whom you should feel sorry. That TWO of their children died due to their own negligence is APPALLING, especially when there are so many people in this world who would kill to have children.

That they continue to profit off these deaths is ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. The websites, pleas for donations, a book? They claim to be good Catholics. I'm sure, if their faith serves them as it should, they'll have to answer for their disgusting choices to profit off the death of two children at their own negligent hands some day. But there's no reason ANY of us should assist them with their greedy hunger for blood money.
