Even though this wonderfully illustrated, sensitive book is geared towards the young children of men in the military, I believe it is perfect for all small children whose fathers are away for an extended period. The place at the end of the book for a photo of Daddy could just as easily be of a father who is in India filming a movie or acting in a touring production of a musical. I recommend this book for all little ones whose daddies are gone.

I received my copy today and I enjoyed the story and the pictures! I like how the book highlights the unique and loving relationship between daddy and child. I also liked how at the end of the story you can personalize the book by attaching a personal photo! This book makes for a really nice gift. Well done... Jamilah Stanfield! I look forward to future books that speak to the unique stories and experiences of military families. This book is very timely given the number of young children who are awaiting their parents return from service.

I read this book to my 3 year old son & then he asked me to read it again. I read it a second time to him & he again, asked me to read it again. I then told him to read it by himself, which he proceeded to do so, in his own way! I enjoyed reading the book & my son was thoroughly engaged throughout multiple readings of this book! I would definitely recommend this book to parents of young children!

What a thoughtful and well illustrated boy for military families or for a father away a lot. I purchased a copy for my nephew whose dad is away often.
This book deserves to be in a school library. Spread the word.

A great book for any parent and child to share. The story is very heartfelt and salutes all the fathers that sacrifice their time away from family so that we can enjoy ours. Great job Mrs. Stanfield!

I was very happy to receive my book last week. As a professional counselor, it is always helpful to have a library of good books helpful for clients. This book is perfect for military families experiencing deployment. It helps to normalize the reality of military life for a child in their own language. I have finally found a book that caters to ALL branches of services. Whether you're an Army, Navy, Air Force or Marine service member/family member, you can relate to this book. It doesn't specify the branch of service. I also like that the child portrayed in the book is gender and ethnicity neutral. A child can easily identify with the child illustrated in the book. There is even a place for your child to place a picture in the back of the book and send to his/her loved one. I love this book and I am so happy to use this book in my counseling practice.
