Be honest, this book has you at the title. You know you have to get it. And you won't be disappointed. As someone who has not read any of the Myrtle Crumb books, this was a funny introduction and I will definitely be getting the rest of this and the author's other series.

The dreadful editing of ebooks really gets on my nerves; don't they have spell check? Also this feels like just one more segment in a serial rather than a complete book. I understand that authors want people to continue to read their stories but it would be nice to have all major loose ends tied up in each book. That said, the characters are charming and it is a good "hour's read."

Colombo's got nothing on Myrtle Crumb, who is like a cross between "Granny of the Beverley Hillbillies" and "Matlock". I absolutely fell in love with Myrtle, her dog Matlock and even her neighbor and arch nemesis, Tansie Miller.

It's the perfect size to enjoy while on a trip to the doctor's office. But be prepared to share, because everyone will want to know why you're laughing.

Hey Myrtle, This is like a crossover between Mayberry and Fried Green Tomatoes. Myrtle and her grand daughter are caught up in a mystery. They both learn that their trust and love for each other. " when good bras go bad, first they let you down , then the underwire breaks and stabs you in the heart. This is a must-read you'll laugh at Myrtles witt, and it will tug at your heart strings. Read it I guarantee you won't regret it.

I think I downloaded this book for free - but I would have tried it out anyhow because the title is catchy, and the main character, Myrtle Crumb goes undercover as a lunch lady at a middle school - and that's my job. There are funny parts to the book - for example when Myrtle goes on about the need to create a mattress with a trench cut out for your boobs to hand down in - I did giggle. However, the story over all is just so-so. There are thefts occurring at her granddaughter's middle school, so Myrtle goes undercover by working in the school's kitchen and immediately decides she knows who did it. She is of course wrong. I found her to be a bit swift to judge and unkind in her regards to the person she suspects. The ending was a bit of an oddity too with the crime figured out and another crime happening, and she decides not to tell the police who did this one, even though she knows the person responsible - odd for a detective.

I just love Mrs Crumb, she is full of love and life. When she goes off on a tangent, I laugh, totally relate to her.
She's a lady you'd want to know and follow on adventures with.
The author makes you feel like part of the story, I like that.

This was a good book. The mystery part of it was good. The characters were developed nicely. The plot was well written. This author seems to lack in being able to close a story nicely. This is the second book I've read by this author and was disappointed once again by the ending. This one, especially, has an ending that doesn't seem to close the story very well. Other than that, they rest of the book is well written.

When Anne George, author of the Southern Sisters Mysteries passed away, my heart was broken because her books were pure southern fun. But, wait, we've got a new kid on the block. Anne's stories were set in Alabama. Ms Trent's Myrtle Crumb series is in Virginia. I live in Georgia and ate this book up like a fresh slice of peach pie. I felt like I was sitting in Myrtle's living room while she told me about her week. This book is very well written, funny, full of southern charm, and enticing characters. Write on, Ms Trent, because I intend on reading all your Myrtle books and will recommend them to my southern friends.
