Review

                                                ----------------------------------
"A page-turner to keep you from your own dreams."  -  Douglas Dorow, Amazon Bestselling Author

"Andy Holloman has once more reached into his richly articulate imagination to pen another story of suspense and human frailty.  In Mr. Holloman's latest literary offering, When His Dreams Take Flight, he brings into sharp focus the agony of repeated failure by his central character, Nick Townsend. Nick must overcome his destructive dependence on alcohol, which threatens every aspect of his life, and oddly, becomes the only salvation for many others.  Holloman's uncanny talent for mining deep into the painful dark corners of the human condition hits home hard and relentlessly in this tale of love, hate, irony, and redemption.  - Carolynn Woods, Author of The Aardvark's Wife.

"Andy Holloman's When His Dreams Take Flight is a taut thriller about an underdog hero with an unusual paranormal gift/curse that takes him, and the reader, on an unusual journey of suspense, murder and redemption.  Well worth the trip."   - David Lender, Bestselling Author

"Holloman's second novel is an imaginative flight of adventure, gripping suspense and genuine heart."
-       Mary Moore, Author of  Sleeping with Patty Hearst

"Readers, buckle up! Holloman delivers heart-pounding intensity and stomach-dropping twists."
-       Bestselling  Author Tamara Ward

When I started this story, I was not sure I cared to read a novel about what is plaguing our country today ... assaults on schools. But, there is more than this in this spellbinding, tenderly written story by respected author, Andy Holloman. Basically, Nick Townsend, who is principal of James Thomas High School, has many demons to fight. He's a recovering alcoholic who has lapses which impact his life and his career. After a night of binge drinking, he awakes late with a severe headache, but worse, the memory of a violent dream which actually turns into reality several states away. He shares this dream with his only close friend and confident, Gene, an ex-cop, who is always willing to help him from falling back into alcoholism. Nick is divorced from his previous wife who also had alcohol problems which finally broke their marriage apart. But Nick is past that and keeps vowing abstinence to himself and his new love of his life, Allison, who understands his battle and is willing to help him. This is an amazing story, written in an easy style which prompted me to read into the late night. It's a story which touches my heart as to how one struggles with grief of a lost one, and how one is also rewarded. Yes, Andy Holloman has another winner, the writing quality is superb, the pace is vigorous, there are many twists and turns, and the characters are captivating and certainly unique. Highly recommend this very absorbing story.

This novel has moments of extreme intensity and violence... it's not for the faint of heart or a reader looking for a light, cozy read! On the contrary, buckle up and prepare for heart-pounding intensity and stomach-dropping twists.

This 2nd book by Andy Holloman is just amazing to read. I was hooked from page 1 and was just wanting more and more. I found this book easy to read and at the right pace so it was great to follow. I found myself drawn straight away to the main character and his life.
When His Dreams Take Flight is brilliant and I will read again. Andy Holloman for me knows how to draw in the readers and keep them wanting more.

Wasn't sure what to expect based on the title. More a story of alcoholism and the highs and lows...mostly lows in this case. Too much written about Nick's problem and his struggles to get straight. The visions were a distraction momentarily but served very little purpose especially with the tragic ending he should have seen in his dreams and prevented. Just another proof of life being unfair.

Holloman throws together a Mulligan stew of people, their strengths, dreams, foibles, abilities to love and support...and their all-to-human weaknesses in a bizarre story that will challenge your sense of reality, while teasing you with the notion that it just could...possibly...happen...maybe.

The beginning of this book did not interest me much. I had a bit of a disconnect but kept on reading. Really irritating for me in places but after the first dream I was hooked. This book is unlike anything I've read before. Don't miss it.

When I read the description of the book I thought it was going to be a long novel, but at 235 words it's kinda short. It took me over a week to read it and while I did like it, there were a few flaws. First off, the book to me was too short and rushed. I think more time should've been spent on some delving into the characters and their stories. For instance, Stick, the villain in the book, I think I would've preferred if the author went into more detail about his revenge plot.

Nick, the main character is someone I had a love/hate relationship with. In the beginning, I felt for him as he struggled with his alcoholism and his dreams about the shootings. But there were other times where I though he was a jerk and his behavior was crude. However, by the end of the book I fell in love with him again as he grieves the loss of a loved one.

Speaking of the ending, it's very heart wrenching, I found myself tearing up quite a bit. However, I felt like it flew by too quickly. It seemed like the author was in a rush to end it and let all the characters move on.

I liked this book. Didn't love it. It kept me interested - but I felt a little let down at the end. I guess I was just expecting something different. I really didn't like the main character much, but I did admire how he worked hard to change his path.
