If you’ve read any of the other books in the series, you know that Reed is Tessa’s best friend and loveable manwhore. Having been burned by his first love, Reed guards his heart by restricting his relationships to one-night stands. Beth is the new lady in town. She’s had a tough life and is seeking a fresh start with family she only recently discovered. She meets Reed in her family’s bar and the two are immediately attracted to each other. When Reed’s former love stops by, flaunting her engagement ring, Beth and Reed pretend to be a couple. It doesn’t take long before the serial drive-by banger decides to give monogamy a chance.
There are many things I love about this book but the main one is Reed. Wow! Christian who? Get your fans out because Reed is a freak in the sheets! Reed Tennyson is the King of Dirty Talk and I’m volunteering to be his willing subject (line forms behind me). He’s also incredibly witty and sweet. Beth is a strong, giving, funny woman and his perfect partner. I love that Beth isn’t some shy virgin. She embraces her sexuality and is unafraid to ask for what she wants in the bedroom. There’s no slut shaming here.
Beth and Reed have a mature relationship. For the most part, they do a good job of communicating. They don’t fall into the trap of playing games with each other and the plot succeeds without any manufactured drama.
Fans of the series will be happy to see that Mia, Ben, Tessa, Luke and even Nolan return to play significant roles in the story.
In "When I Fall", J. Daniels once again manages to seamless blend romance, humor, steamy sex, and compelling characters into an interesting storyline.
Reed refuses to open his feelings again. His ex made him feel weak, vulnerable. Can't do that. Won't be stringed along ever again. So he's a one and done man. Don't ask for double dipping. Make sure you're out of his bed in the morning. That's been his mode. No attachments. That is until Beth. She's different.
I'm not going to describe Beth. All I'm going to say is that I loved her. She's Reed other half in every way possible. I love their build up, their pairing, and their chemistry. Reed... his possessive side is subtle, but very present. Something that Beth needs.
One of the things I particularly love about this series, is how Ms. Daniels has interconnected all the characters. Their standalones, but she's giving her readers a follow up of where the previous characters. They're friends. They're family and they are there for one another. This is what a series is about. Keeping all the characters active and alive without losing sight of the characters on deck.
Alabama Summer, you are favorite spring break read. Cannot wait to dive into the next books. Haven't started this series? Do yourself a favor, jump on it.. now.
Yours and mine both Beth, yours and mine both...thanks J. Daniels!
5 #dickmeupReed Stars!!!
Ben from the first book in the Alabama Summer series, Where I Belong, will always have my heart, but Reed, oh Reed...that dirty, dirty boy.
I always enjoyed Reed in the previous 2 books in this series, he was an intriguing character that needed his story told...and what a story it is! Some of the things we discover about Reed are so unexpected, I fell more and more in love with him as the book went along.
"I'm a smart guy when I'm thinking with my dick, but when I allow the weakest part of me to get involved, I'm the dumbest mothereffer on the planet." And that right there tells you all you need to know about Reed! He's the loveable manwhore who will not allow emotions to enter into the equation when it comes to women. He was burned once in his life and he's not going to let it happen. But then Beth happens...
Beth is new to town and rocks Reed's world the minute her lips touch his. She's strong and resilient, having been through a lot in her 22 years. She throws Reed for a loop and makes him rethink everything he thought he wanted, or didn't want, with a woman.
Beth is equal parts spunky and vulnerable. Reed is a filthy mouthed, sweet southern boy. These 2 are a perfect complement to each other. What a journey this book takes us on, as both Beth and Reed come to learn things about not only each other, but about themselves.
This book, like the other 2, made me laugh and it made me cry- maybe even more than the others. I loved that the rest of the gang plays such important parts in each book- I love this family of friends!
Reed Tennyson, that sexy manwhore! He's so cocky, sexy and all alpha! He's also a really great guy and great friend, I especially loved his friendship with Tessa, they were hilarious together. I loved how he was there for Ben and Mia when they needed him.
Beth Davis, due to her past, she was vulnerable, insecure but she was beautiful inside and out and really sweet. I loved her! She's pretty awesome.
I loved Reed and Beth's first meeting and how she took charge, gave him that smooch and helped him out, even though he didn't want it. I really loved them together.
Loved seeing all the Bama boys and their woman! Of course Sir Nolan and his obsession with Uncle Weed, which was so adorable!
