Limited clear vinyl LP pressing. When I Get Home is the 2019 album from Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter and visual artist Solange Knowles. This release represents the next phase in Solange's evolution as an artist, and is the follow up to her critically acclaimed 2016 album A Seat at the Table. The album is an exploration of origin. It asks the question how much of ourselves do we bring with us versus leave behind in our evolution. The artist returned to Third Ward Houston to answer this. When I Get Home was written, performed, and executive produced by Solange, and includes contributions from Tyler, the Creator, Chassol, Playboi Carti, Standing on the Corner, Panda Bear, Devin the Dude, The-Dream, and more. It also features samples from Third Ward's own Debbie Allen, Phylicia Rashad, poet Pat Parker, and Scarface.

As I listened to this album, I came with an ASATT mindset......but that quickly left me. As a newer Solange fan I felt the repititous vibes of experimentation SHE produced in this album.

I first listened to it on a speaker in my bathroom. Then my computer. Then, my car. Then my TV. And THEN, my headphones. Each time, I heard something new that I hadn't heard before and I had to continue more and MORE, AND MORE!

Honestly, from what I've heard from longtime fans of her, she ALWAYS does this. Her sounds EVOLVE. Her flows EVOLVE. Her music EVOLVES.

I love it. LOVE IT. Truly a continuation of her amazing work an an artist. Songs like 'Stay Flo' and 'Beltway' triggered my emotions of her addicting harmonies and melodies. While tracks like 'Binz' and 'Almeda' were unique, simple, and yet, POWERFUL & UPLIFTING.

I always admire artists who keep a basis on their musical beginnings, but are never the ones to let past success and critical acclaim keep them from trying new things with their music. I LOVE SOLANGE NOW FOR THAT REASON. With this album, she's broken that cycle too many 'mainstream' artists succumb to.

I'd recommend this album to ANYONE. It's an album not entirely based on lyricism, but also invokes the many senses and sides of our emotions.

GREAT WORK SOLANGE ❤. This is my FIRST, FULL ALBUM PURCHASE FOR 2019.

I loved the music on this album. I am aware that Solange has a visual that goes along with it but I wish she had a physical CD and DVD visual album for purchase like when Beyonce released Lemonade. There are a lot of short songs in this and some have few lyrics. I believe one is "I saw things I imagined" and its repeated. I heard reviewers say it was boring but I believe it's based on meditation. My meditations usually has me saying positive affirmations repeatedly untill hopefully it comes true. When Solange says "I saw things I imagined" she is meditating. Shes trying to make her dreams into reality. It seems like a theme of this album is about healing meditation and seeing your dreams come true. A Seat at the Table Solange previous album had a theme of going through depression, feeling boxed in, anger, anxiety etc. This one is about the healing process. Also it's very Black. It's a celebration of Black culture and I believe Solange's childhood in Houston.

To say this is a departure from her prior album is an understatement however that is Solanges' style. Solange and the Hadley St. dreams is completely different from True, which is completely different from a seat at the table which is completely different from this album. Favorite songs: things i imagined, down with the clique, way to the show, stay floa, time (is), Jerrod, binz, beltway, sound of rain, I'm a witness. When I listen to the album I feel like it takes me to another planet that is peaceful, relaxing and calming. The beats are melodic and the lyrics are poetic.

Update. Amazon quickly sent a replacement record which has no problems. The first one was probably a fluke.

No review on the music here, which is outstanding.

The record copy I received was warped so badly that I couldn't play it at all. This is an absolute first for me with new records, and I've purchased many hundreds! I had to return the disc. Hoping the replacement will be better. I'll update if I get a better copy. Until then, I'm extremely disappointed.

Tenía ese problema de los saltos en las canciones porque lo reproducía en un victrola (un tocadiscos económico). Como la aguja era muy liviana los beats de las canciones hacían que se saltará las partes.

Ese problema lo solucione usando el tocadiscos audiotechnica LP60x el cual hizo que sonara impecable y ya no tuve ninguna cuestión en ese asp cto.

Si se siente especial el vinil en cuanto a diseño, se ve que la artista si pensó en todo el concepto desde la experiencia del empaque. Me encantó. Lo recomiendo mucho
