The characters were fully fleshed out and both were intriguing. Gail is a by-the-book, no-nonsense professional woman. It was nice watching her relax a little and soften throughout the novel. Simon is the delicious bad boy with a turbulent past and a penchant for self-destruction. It was lovely watching him pull himself together and overcome his tragedies.
The setting was well developed, the plot well-paced and compelling. I’ll be reading more in this series, and I recommend other romance lovers check this one out.
Watching her business rapidly swirling down the drain, Gail takes desperate steps to save it. She confronts the dissolute, drunken former client that is the cause of her loss. Taking a huge gamble to save her PR company & to help Simon change his image & regain at least partial custody of his son is like taking a leap of faith.
The book ended too soon for me. I wanted the story to continue!
Falling in love is what neither one wanted nor expected. The more time they're together the harder it is to resist...
Overall, When Lightening Strikes is a charming heartfelt story. I loved it. So many emotions and an epic journey ahead. Brenda Novak has done it again in creating the best romance. I was hooked. Engaging, sweet, and funny. This is a book I recommend to all.
I got this copy from Harlequin. This, is my voluntary review.
I wonder if the Hollywood society is really as shallow as portrayed here. Must be because this is the way is so often is. There is an irony here that the man who destroyed her business needs her so he can get his son back. The ex is written as a cliche, but the town of Whiskey Creek is charming and I like her friends. I also like how the town, without saying anything, protects the famous actor in their midst.
Simon really has Issues. His fame has gone to his head, he marries a vapid woman who is ticked off to have gotten pregnant but when they divorce hangs onto the boy for no reason except to stick a knife into Simon's heart, metaphorically speaking. I like how Simon actually confronted his issues and changed.
Gail also has her issues and Simon doesn't hesitate to point them out. Good writing kept my interest, and I enjoyed it.
All the big, star studded, drama you would expect from a book with one of the main characters being a Hollywood star with a bad boy reputation. Simon's life is spirally out of control and the tabloids are putting the full blame on him because he is reluctant to bad mouth his ex wife. Unfortunately, it has cost him the custody of his son. Gail wants to help Simon and comes up with a plan to re-establish his image, only it requires a big sacrifice from her as well as Simon.
