When I Need You is book #4 in the Need You series and this series is just getting better and better!!
I don't want to give too much of the plot away but as always Lorelei James wrote characters that are complex and are not one dimensional , I got so into the book that I just couldn't put it down and I read it in less than 24 hours!
Rowan is a single mother and love is the last thing she is looking for when she sublets her brother's apartment, especially when she finds out her next door neighbor is Jensen Lund aka “The Rocket” since dating athletes is a big NO for her.
Jensen has his own rules when it comes to dating:
1) No single mothers
2) No cheerleaders
3) No medical personnel
Rowan breaks all his rules but as much as he's trying to keep his distance and only stay friends the attraction and chemistry between them is just too strong to resist.
I loved the way Jensen treated Rowan's son, Calder. The part where he reads Harry Potter to him just melted my heart! A man that is good with kids is just so sexy and hot.
I loved the fact that Rowan and Jensen started as friends and really got to know one another, I loved how they both put Calder's needs first and I just loved every think about this book- it was funny, full of emotions and super sexy.
Lorelei James could have created a lot of drama in this book but I loved the fact she kept it to a minimum.
I really hope there will be more books in the series since there are still so many great stories to tell about the Lund family.
In the installment of the "Need You" series, we FINALLY get to read more about hunky Jensen Lund. While he was in the earlier books, you never got to see enough of him. Well here is he in all his glory! What a fantastic story!
Rowan Michaels is THE perfect match for Jens. She's basically making him break all his silly rules and shows us what a gem Jens really is. I swear, she could not have written a better character for him. Ro's son is the perfect compliment and shows you how great Jens is as a Dad.
These two are really matched perfectly and then throw in appearances by all the other characters, you have heaven! How she makes Selka better each time amazes me. I want her as my Mom!
Definitely pick up this book and read it. It's AMAZING! The ENTIRE collection is so good!
When I Need You is told in dual first person so you get to see both of the couple’s thoughts, feelings, and insecurities. WINY features an unlikely HEA of two apartment building neighbors. Single mom, pro cheerleader/coach Rowan Michaels and pro football star Jensen Lund (the baby of Lund family) find themselves living across the hall from each other. Both Rowan and Jensen have a Do Not Date list that would exclude each other as possible matches, so they embark on a friendship.
This friends-to-lovers tale is as heartwarming as it is HOT! Good guys and gals don’t finish last and their HEA will make you believe in love. I think Jensen is now my favorite Lund – if you haven’t read the other books in this series, do so ASAP! I’m oh so hopeful there will be more Lund stories in the near future… Bravo, Lorelei – best one in the series!
I could gush about the romance aspects of the book, but I think other reviewers have that covered. What I always appreciate about James’ work is that she ties in social norms into her books. Without giving away spoilers, the discussion of fraternization rules for the cheerleaders and football players truly showcases how James places her characters in a well-developed, well-researched, and thoroughly thought-out world.
