I turned virtual pages like a hungry cat, going from one story into the next when I had sworn I was going to take a break.
This collection also answered some questions for me, as I've often wondered how single author collections work...especially collections specific to a certain subject such as women loving women.
In "When She Says Yes," I found a welcome variety. No two stories were exactly the same.
On one page I found myself in an exotic land where a woman in power takes numerous wives, and gives her newest a special gift. Before I knew it I landed in a darkly sexy tattoo parlor, and soon after a bar where a woman experiencing a drought meets Mrs. Right Now.
This is a collection full of well rounded characters and unique scenarios.
While I enjoyed them all, and especially adored many, I was quite partial to "Love, Zora."
There was something about being taken to that time period, imagining Zora in her notorious gloved hands and tipped hat that had me entranced.
There was also that bold and creative choice Ms. Zedde made to fictionalize a love affair with a beloved writer and make it look and feel completely real.
I applaud Fiona Zedde's work here, and I highly recommend this collection.
