About the Author

Tammy Robinson is a contemporary author from New Zealand with five novels available for purchase on Amazon. She is currently at work on her sixth novel. After years spent working her way round the world on cruise ships and at Club Med resorts (and yes, the rumours are all true) Tammy now lives in the beautiful Bay of Plenty with her husband, their baby girl Holly (born October 2012), a scatty black Labrador and a grumpy black cat who occasionally requires a two week course of anti-anxiety medication to stop him from pulling his own fur out. Seriously. When not being drooled/vomited/pooped on by Holly or staring out the window daydreaming of adventures to be had, Tammy manages to squeeze in some writing. She dreams of showing off this beautiful, incredible world to her daughter and is intent on squeezing every last drop out of life. Wow. I loved this book. I nearly threw up my heart during one part! It has an almighty shocker in it that's for sure. I loved following Ivy's journey through life. Watching her grow and find herself again after unimaginable tragedy destroyed the girl she once was. Her experience was so beautifully portrayed, it was as if her grief became my own. I could swear the characters are real people living their lives out in the world they were so perfectly developed.
I am so glad I read this book it was just a wonderful experience.
Another amazing novel Tammy. I don't know how you do it.

Ok so this has to be one of the best, if not the best, story I have read in a long time! I read this in bed last night and stayed awake to finish it. It made me cry a few times, but in a book that is good.

The first part of the book is a sweet love story between Ivy and Walt. The way they meet is so simple, yet the way the author weaves the meeting and the conversation afterwards is so much more than simple. The speed in which these two fall for each other is done just right, and the way the relationship progresses is how I think everyone would want it to happen.

These quotes come from the reaction to Walt's smile and general happy mood as he heads home after first meeting Ivy -

"....one glance at his face and the infection spread rapidly. Their lips twitched up at the edges and the corners of their eyes crinkled..."

"One man he smiled at,......normally walked home exhausted.....he instead greeted his wife in the kitchen with a nibble on the ear and a pinch on the bum that led to other things, and nine months later that pinch blessed them with a beaming bundle they named Joy."

"And the tired lady pushing one baby in a pram and toting another on her hip, normally she was so drained at the end of the day she couldn't wait to ....drink down half a bottle of cheap white wine....she found herself instead slowing down and enjoying time with her children.....Then she poured all the wine down the sink."

I make a habit of trying not to read the synopses of books I'm asked to read as I want to go into a story not knowing what to expect. And boy did this book give me something I totally didn't expect. That was the first bit that made me cry!

I discovered Ms. Robinson via her blog earlier this year. I read her first book, Charlie and Pearl, and absolutely loved it. As a result, I was looking forward to her next effort. She doesn't disappoint with When Stars Collide. I started reading it last night and then spent today racing through it. What Tammy does incredibly well is right simple love stories in a page-turning style. The other thing I like is that she uses news stories to create the foundation for her fiction.
Is When Stars Collide perfectly written? No. There are some issues which is why I've only given this four stars. From the perspective of how much I wanted to read this story until it was over, however, it is definitely five stars. It's a beautiful love story.

This is the second Tammy Robinson book I've read and absolutely adored. Between my tears, I was shaking my head in wonder...how does she do it? Creates characters so real and so life like it's like you're right there with them. This book had lots of unexpected twists and turns that had me racing through it to find out what would happen. The letters throughout the book added so much depth to the story line and made me love Ivy - I just wanted to reach through the pages and give her a huge hug. The settings, through Ivy's travels are rich, and well written, and a great touch as she goes through her journey to heal. Ivy's Grandad is about the sweetest guy ever! And Walt! I'll let you find out about that... The way Tammy writes emotion, and loss, and love is truly magnificent, and I can't wait to start her next book which is waiting patiently on my kindle. Highly recommend this book!

Tammy Robinson has a written a truly magical tale with this book. The imagery and characters in this story make it a pleasure to read. I'm not usually a fan of romance novels but the way this is written make it a truly tear-jerking and laugh-aloud wonder. Simply loved the relationship between granddaughter and grandfather and felt my heart go out as Ivy struggled to deal with life after loss. Loved Walt as a character (we all need a Walt!) and wished for a second book following the first so their story didn't have to end. Tammy I believe you have a special gift with words. Keep doing what you love, because I love what you do!

Remember finding your first love, and the excitement that came with it? Remember not wanting to be apart from them and your family realising that you were growing up before their very eyes? Aw, a love story! A love story of Ivy and Walt to be precise. Two people falling head over heels in love with each other, excited for their future and being together…if only it was that simple. If only things were as straight forward as being in love and being allowed to get on with it. Never is, is it? It’s always very calm…..before the storm….
Yet again I read this book without reading the blurb, and once again I am glad that I did it that way. I wanted to see the story unfold without knowing a thing, which is exactly what’s going to happen in this review! Usually I write general things about a book without spoilers (obviously), just to give readers a rough idea before they read it. But this time, I’m not going to because I feel that it is a story you need to find out for yourself, just like I did. Why? Because the book is a work of art. I will tell you what I thought of it though, naturally. I absolutely loved it, from start to finish. The amount of raw and powerful emotion that escapes into the story is incredible. As it’s already known, you do get to remember the love story of a first love and experience how Ivy felt. But then everything changed. The dynamics in the book changed. I was sitting bolt up right in my bed with my hand covering my mouth. No, I’m not being dramatic, it is THAT powerful.
Every event within the story is backed with a very realistic description; to the point where I felt that I was looking through Ivy’s eyes to what she saw.
