About the Author
Cynthia Gillard is a 1976 graduate of Kalamazoo College and a 1982 graduate of Notre Dame Law School. She has had an active business law practice with the firm of Warrick & Boyn, LLP for the past 30 years. In a prior life, Gillard was extensively involved in theater playing numerous leading roles in plays and musicals. She lives with her family on Corey Lake in Michigan.

Gillard did a good job portraying how difficult it was for a young woman back then. What opportunities did they have after high school besides getting married or go off to a finishing school. That is what Adella's parents wished for her, but Adella had a different dream.
This was one of those books, you wanted to keep reading, but alas, it's the end. I do hope Ms. Gillard considers writing a sequel, giving us insight into Adella and Clifton's vaudeville life together, after marriage.
BTW, I really enjoyed reading the epigraphs at each new chapter.
