Cam Riley comes back home to Timber Creek and runs smack dab into her old flame – and love of her young life – Evan Anderson. Their breakup, which is a simplified term for what happened, truly affected them both in all the years they’ve been apart. When We Left is truly about their story, old and new, and if they can come back together again.
Cam has a teenage daughter who just makes me smile. I mean, you know there will be much angst, because of her age and the situation Cam and Morgan (her daughter) find themselves in, but the journey they take to build a closer mother/daughter relationship is truthful and touching.
And the friends…OMG, talk about shades of high school! I have a funny feeling there is more to come from these friends and I’m looking forward to reading more about how their lives change.
Great new series with lots of heart. Truly felt for both Cam and Evan…and even Morgan. The lives and relationships make for great reading.
This was a well written thoughtful story. Cam's struggles with her daughter and her ex and Evan's struggle with how he left things with Cam as a teenager made this much more than just a second chance romance. I was drawn in to the whole town and am very much looking forward to Mark & Christy's story.
A bittersweet book. Ms. Aitken wrote an amazing book that tore at my heart.
When Evan Anderson left Cam Riley it was for her own good. He really didn’t have a choice. Well he did, but the judge set him straight. He needed to straighten up.
Cam couldn’t believe that she was being pulled over. Then to top it off it was her first love. Evan Anderson, now Officer Anderson of Timber Creek where she and her daughter Morgan were starting a new life. Her divorce wasn’t finalized yet. It hurt. Plus she never got over Evan. She didn’t know why he left.
Evan couldn’t believe Cam was back, and now with a daughter. Part of him wished she was his. All this time he almost thought she could be.
Elena Aitken really knows how to write a great book. I love her writing style. She really knows how to captivate her audience. She really understands what readers want in a great book and always delivers.
In When We Left we are introduced to Cam Riley and Evan Anderson. Cam and Evan have history. Looking for a fresh start Cam returns to Timber Creek with her teenage daughter after being publicly humiliated by her soon to be ex-husband. From the moment Cam and Evan run into each other you can see the chemistry.
I loved every aspect of this book. I especially enjoyed the fact that this was not only a romance but a book about a mother trying to reconnect with her teenage daughter. Cam and her daughter's relationship was a journey of discovery and full of angst and very touching for myself. I loved the friends of Cam and Evan. I fell in love with the town of Timber Creek. I felt a real connection to Cam and especially her struggles. I laughed and felt my heart swoon. I was truly captivated from the beginning all the way to the last page. I didn't want this story to end. Everything about this book was perfect. This is an amazing first book in a brand new series. I read this book all the way through in one sitting and now am reading it again. It's that good. You get a second chance at love, old friendships and a journey to a better relationship between mother and daughter plus an irritable teenage girl. Grab your copy and fall in love with When We Left.
