I loved Jamie from book one and was glad he garnered his own book because his story is so sweet and sad at the same time. A youthful indiscretion leads to a lifetime of consequences and hinder his ability to form any lasting attachments to anyone. But he's a good man..just trapped by wrongful accusation and bad circumstances.
Reed is a singularly driven man, his only desire to help build up a business with his sister and create a life for himself. All of this is thrown into a tailspin when he meets the flirty immensely beautiful Jamie.
The journey is bumpy, and the ending will make you go..OMG I'm looking forward to the third book.
If you haven't read the first book you should and you should definitely read this one and if you like this check out her More Than Friends series because that series is AMAZING!
I like this series because the story is good and the writing style is one that makes the books easy to read. What makes it a 4 star and not 5 is that I feel the story could have been even better with more.....well I don't know what more but it wasn't enough for me.
Still it's a good read so I will recommend it and I will probably read the rest of the books.
This is a quick read, so not much more to say other than give you spoilers, so I'll refrain. But what I am looking forward to is the next one in the series. Will Seb get someone of his own? Will Jack (the total nice guy from the dance floor) reappear? What about the guy from the bookstore? And what about Ross, is he going to get his come uppance? Can't wait to find out!
Then there's Jamie's character. According to the synopsis, "Jamie presents a flamboyant and slutty attitude to the world because he's been hurt before. Even though it's mostly an act, he hides behind his persona to keep people at arm's length." He didn't seem even remotely flamboyant in the prologue, so when and why did all this start? Even in Book 1 he's referred to as "Flaming Jamie". And if this fake persona was meant to keep people at arm's length, then why did he flirt incessantly and sit in patron's laps and let them paw & grope him? Just for tips? The most disturbing part was this entry: "I've had plenty of hook ups with guys from the bar, and I've even had a few situations like this that were not exactly consensual, but none have been violent enough to warrant any sort of report. I’m hoping this will be the same. If I just relax and accept what's happening, I might get out of this unscathed." So basically, this is a rape scene, and Jamie allows himself to get raped by patrons of the bar, and never reports it. HOW IS THIS OKAY??? Clearly this is someone with some deep-seated psychological issues, and he needed some therapy before trying to get into a long-term relationship. On top of all that, except for grabbing him at the concert, Ross just disappears. After his behavior up to that point, him just going away and never causing any more problems just wasn't believable.
Then there's Reed. He's not so bad, but when he and his sister never report that one of their students has a drug addicted mother, and then don't report that she abandons the child for 3 weeks (and even does it a second time near the end of the book) I don't have much more respect for him either. And by the end, Jamie and Reed have both declared their love, but what is that love based on? One date and sex twice? They avoid each other for about 50% of the story. This whole thing was just ridiculous and does nothing to make me want to read Book 3.
