1. Meandering plot full of holes and (ignored) tidy exit opportunities. Clumsily legitimises the even clumsier ending
2. Inept management of multi time period themes and "peripheral" story points. Lacking cohereance, elegance
3. Low character intelligence. Their ineptitude is the only reason this is a novel, not a two page short story
4. The ending. It feels like the author spent 95% of their time on the lead up, but phoned in the finish
I love the noire flavour. The gore, intrigue and mystery. I feel let down by eliments artificial to the core of the story which ultimately make the whole endeavour underwhelming.
Hardcore. Bad news comes to town and bad stuff happens and will our hero take care of everything? It doesn't look good, but if he does I hope there's more of his tales to come. Whose his daddy?
Strong writing, terrifying bad guys and gals, and suspense to the very end. Highly recommended.

Novel a tad too long, but, in the end, it is worth it.Read more
