I have been listening to the likes of "The Wonder Years", "Brand New" and "Now, Now" recently. This album has done nothing but impress me with the sheer raw emotion. From the first track to the last, it blends a surreal picture of almost apologetic angst. A sort of nothing might get better, but we can always appreciate where we are sort of feel. One of my favorite albums I've come across this year.

It’s not easy to describe every band that I listen to. Sure, some bands are far easier than others but still, the effort and indecisiveness are still there for them. However, with The World is a Beautiful Place, it’s just like that, I love some of their songs but then I don’t understand others, I can’t wait to see them live but I don’t think I’ll be able to get into their music as much as my friends do. It’s confusing but what isn’t confusing is how great this album is.

There’s always going to be something that I dislike about an album, always. Maybe not at first but always soon after and with Whenever, If Ever, that something are the vocals but mostly the back-up vocals. They sound extremely off-key and sloppily done compared to the lead vocalist and hearing them both together just shows that.

What I did like about this album is how some songs start and other songs finish on the same note as well as the fact that all the songs have a great build-up, especially in Getting Sodas. The emotion and tone that this album gives off as a whole is great and gives off that actual ‘gig life’ feeling that every teenager wants to experience at least once.

The World is a Beautiful Place handed me a slow album that I was expecting yet I appreciate it either way because it sounds great. The drumming and bass pieces and executed lovely with just the right amount of strength and build-up that makes each song better. I recommend this album to anyone who enjoys the post-rock genre and don’t mind a few slow songs that have tremendous build-ups. My favourite songs are-Gig Life, Getting Sodas, You Will Never Go to Space, and Ultimate Steve.

First of all, I like what the first commenter said about this album having a "nothing might get better, but we can always appreciate where we are sort of feel." I doubt I'll be able to describe the music better than that but what I can say is that the sound achieved by this band here sent me back to the good old days of Emo (circa mid to late 1990s), before it became whatever that term means to the world now. Think of it as post-rock if you prefer, but all terms aside, this album is great from start to finish.

If it helps, I'd compare the sound of The World Is A Beautiful Place... to the likes of The Appleseed Cast, Cap'n Jazz, and a number of old bands off the Deep Elm record label. I hope these guys stick around fora while and I hope that they inspire other musicians to re-discover their roots.

Let me get this straight. I like the music, liked it so much I wanted the vinyl. But what I got was a record that skips more than a smooth rock across a still lake. It turned this 35 minute album into a 10 minute skip-fest. I don't know how to fix this, nor should I have to. I paid for this. Unacceptable

Mediocre at best. Its not that emotional as people claim and some of the songs just sound like you have heard this before. Honestly its those "I have seen so many bands do this style that's its just not funny" the band can become a bore and a chore after listening this whole album more than once. Its not such a bad album but its definitely not a 5 star everyone is giving it on here.

I bought this record from the actual Topshelf Records website, but I feel like I need to express my love for this album.

The first time I heard this, I cried and laughed and sat down and thought about myself. This album was an emotional rollercoaster and I love it. Songs like Fightboat and Heartbeat In The Brain seem to make this album. The emotion of suburbia and leaving friends just gets to me.

I would recommend this album to people who like bands such as American Football, The Front Bottoms, Andrew Jackson Jihad, Sunny Day Real Estate, and most any other bands of the sort!

This is an amazing album. The new record I received skips in a few places, hence the 4 star rating, but is otherwise a very good item. The clear with black smoke coloring of this pressing is also very cool.

Such a great emo revival band. How could you ever go wrong with those big, open guitar riffs and songs about high school love. Nothing sounds more like summertime and The World Is a Beautiful Place do it right.
