Bertha you are a great teacher. I plan to start my Joy and Gratitude Journal as soon as I am through with this review. Thanks Bertha.
Jane Carroll suggests in this wonderful addition to the Bertha series, "Describe joy using all of our senses." That statement from the book rang true with me. Using ALL of our senses to describe the joys in our lives leads to a constant uncovering of the most surprising things. Joy is everywhere! Even in the darkest moments of life - there is joy. I'm following Bertha and Jane and will be making notes of each and every 'joy moment' in my life - from the tiniest to the most humongous.
The book contains journal pages, which can also be found on the private Facebook group, Where the Joys Are. The address is listed at the beginning of the book. Keep in mind that you'll need to know the secret handshake and have your flamingo membership ring on full display to enter.
Certainly, the more you acknowledge small joys, the larger they become.
I love this author. I'd read her grocery list, if she didn't have a book out there to read. I highly recommend the latest installment from Jane Carroll, and really, who can resist Bertha? She's so fun!
I have to say, I just love Bertha! Having lived in Florida for many years, I know I have seen a hint of the wardrobe items that Bertha wears. The image in my mind of her daily outfits brought a smile to my face and made me laugh harder than I have in quite a while. Not only is Bertha a crazy character, she also has a great head on her shoulders. This makes her the perfect coach and leader to explain the many ways we can find things in life to be grateful for on a daily basis. The book even contains writing prompts at the end of each chapter to encourage journaling.
This is the first book that I have read by Jane Carroll and it certainly will not be the last. Will definitely be reading more from this very talented and humorous author.
I would recommend it to anyone who needs a little encouragement, some laughter and a nudge to start journaling.
There is a serious side to this author's humor, hard lessons she learned as a single mother raising her children on her own, lessons not to be taken lightly. But the greatest lesson she passes on to us is to keep a light heart--shine our lights in the world, and some of it will shine back on us.
This is a very motivating way to get your mind working and bring lots of smiles to your face. Many things mentioned in the book brought a smile to my face. One being the 56 T-bird. The only convertible I ever owned.
And I love this part:
~Quote~ I took a step back so I could take it all in. There was Bertha, dressed like a cowgirl and not the kind from Dallas, either! She could have passed for Annie Oakley in a heart beat. gun and all. LOL
The only negative thing I could say is, I didn't see a boot! You will have to read the book to find out why I said that guys.
If you need to get your life on track then buy this book, it will give you a fun start to tracking your life! I know I'm ready.
