Editorial Reviews

Review

"I fear I do not have enough stars to offer to a magnificent story such as this one, because even my highest rating would not do this book justice." ~Natasha is a Book Junkie

"Where Lightning Strikes let me feeling like *I'd* been struck by lightning! Crackling with emotion and sizzling with passion, the tale of Lyrik and Tamar is so electric, it will leave you happily satisfied, but still begging for more." ~NYT Bestselling Author M. Leighton

"Where Lightning Strikes is beautifully written, heartbreakingly, real life story of love, suffering and forgiveness. The words flow off the pages like lyrical madness and is an epic love story for the ages. ~Heather, Give Me Books

"If ever there was a story to be told, it's this one. She stole me, held me and placed me back on solid ground with the last of the pages. Top read of 2016 for me. One I will recommend with honesty and truthfulness. Don't wait to read this. You'll be extremely sorry." ~Panty Dropping Book Blog

The man was a bundle of mayhem, pushing and pulling and confounding. Yet in his arms, everything became so clear.

Lyrik West. Rocker, bad boy, a beautiful man with the face of a fallen angel and a heart full of buried pain. As part of the band Sunder, he has invaded the world that Tamar King has created for herself and brought a storm in his wake.

"Temptation. That's what you are. An angel wrapped up in a demon's body. Heaven and hell. A gift and my greatest demise."

Tamar King. Bold, sassy, pin-up beautiful, with a take no prisoners attitude, she's gotten under Lyrik's skin like no one in a very long time. The feeling is mutual, and it scares the hell out of both of them.

Lyrik and Tamar, two beautifully broken people, engaged in a dance that will take them to places that they can't even imagine.

Lyrik sees Tamar as a prize to be attained, the girl that keeps saying 'No' to his constant pursuit. But, the more that he gets to know her, the closer that they become, Lyrik senses that there is much more to her than she allows, or wants, the world to see. Since meeting when Sunder arrived in Savannah months before, the two have circled each other in a moody and emotional push and pull. Lyrik and Tamar, as different as they are, have more in common than they think. Both have pasts that they are trying to outrun, memories that bring nothing but pain, ghosts that keep them from truly living.

"...For a year, you've been chasing a runner. All I've done is hide while pretending I was strong...But that's not me, Lyrik. All of this..." I waved my hand over my body, "it's just a show."
He pushed to his feet. His body moved in a slight sway. Mine followed. That magnet I couldn't escape.

Story was good but I couldn't get past the writing style. This is a wordy novelist. I ended up skimming her over the top descriptions of feelings and internal dialogue. She has this style where she doesn't write in standard paragraph form and would utilize sentence fragments and single words trailing off. Couldn't take it.
Irritated.
Impatient.
Lost.
Seriously, just like that. Except it felt like it was almost on every page. It really grated on my nerves so I ended up skipping passages. This story would benefit from some editing.

5 brilliant and electric stars !!!

Lightning:

noun
1.
a brilliant electric spark discharge in the atmosphere, occurring within a thundercloud, between clouds, or between a cloud and the ground.

That's how I felt reading this book. Electric sparks flying everywhere between Lyrik and Tamar. The feelings were so vivid and intense. You'll feel light and airy one moment reading as these two fall in love. Then you'll be gutted and your heart will be bleeding due to the forces they're trying to fight the inevitable. My heart bottomed out and went BOOM countless times. I loved this sexy, beautiful story !

Tamar

" I sought safety from the storm in the walls I built up around myself. Behind the facade of this hardened exterior - tattoos and makeup and dyed hair - that had become my home. No longer were they just a mask. They had become me. "

She was hard and soft. Tattooed and clean. Vixen and angel. Dirty and pure.

Lyrik

" He stood out like a fiery bolt of electricity. A streak of light and a blanket of dark. So destructive and compelling it was impossible to look away, the boy poised to strike and set you aflame. "

Loneliness was a bitch. But loneliness was safe. And there was nothing safe about Lyrik West.

When these two characters collide it was thrilling and you can literally feel the air trembling and the ground shaking. Like a lightning strike. Gahhhhh !!!! Tamar was very guarded and was determined to never be vulnerable again. Lyrik was the typical rock star man whore who vowed never to love again.

Piece by piece their walls start breaking down and it was such an emotional and exhilarating journey.

Once again, A.L. Jackson has weaved the perfect amount of suspense, sexual tension and beautifully poetic words into a tale that will have you hooked from page one. These two fragmented souls have a tough journey ahead of them, as they help each other to heal, and it is a beautiful and highly emotional ride you don't want to miss!

Lyrik and Tamar are a match made in heaven, or it could be hell! The push and pull that consumes these two is thrilling. Flipping from like/lust to hate, there is one thing for certain, the chemistry between them is electric ... like the air before lightning strikes!

Lyrik comes across as one of the most cockiest bastards I've ever read. He is sexy and confident, but it didn't take long for the realisation to set in - he is also one broken, messed-up man.

"This guy was so absurdly hot, so damned gorgeous, he rode around on a chariot of presumption."

Tamar is also hiding a very broken girl under a tough exterior and no matter how hard she fights off Lyrik's advances she cannot escape the very real connection she feels towards him. It broke my heart to learn about her past and the devastation she had endured, and then for the crap Lyrik puts her through in this? Gah! Though I eventually understood his demons I wanted to strangle him! More than once!

This is one emotional roller-coaster of a ride that made my heart race, had me in tears and had me screaming (mainly at Lyrik!) at the unfairness of it all. It is also wickedly sexy and, I have to add, the comic relief from side characters, like the charming Ash (love him!), are an absolute bonus! Loved it!
