Only thing I don’t like about this record is these aren’t the original recordings of “How Great Thou Art”, “Stand By Me”, “You’ll Never Walk Alone”, and others. I personally don’t like the remastered versions as much as the originals (different instruments and rhythm than the old originals).

It definitely deserves five stars though! The sound quality is amazing and it’s a very cool record to have in your collection, plus it’s a great value for an Elvis Gospel Album. I bought this because it had a lot of the songs I loved from the original “How Great Thou Art” record Elvis released in 1967, and I’m just a bit disappointed they aren’t the same songs. Still love the album though, great value like I said!

I wasn't sure these would be as good as the original versions, I didn't need to compare, the songs were unique and fresh and had that special magical Elvis touch.More than Rock n' Roll Elvis loved gospel sacred music, it was most likely the first music he experienced as a child. Lisa Marie picked a perfect compilation of her father's favorites. Added bonus is her duet with her dad. Once I began playing this CD I couldn't stop it's inspirational and emotional, some songs actually brought tears to my eyes. Worth every dollar spent, just wish I hadn't waited so long to buy it. Standout tracks obviously Where no one stands alone,Stand by Me, How great thou art , my favorite You'll Never walk alone, and Amazing Grace to name a few. Thank you Lisa for the new experience, time and love that went into making this CD.

To those Elvis fans who are sitting on the fence about buying this new gospel album I say this : it is FABULOUS. Great new arrangements bring life into some of the lesser-known songs and some of the tracks are so feelgood even an atheist (like myself) would be forgiven for getting excited. The backing vocalists are PERFECT. Just for once I actually believe the hype that Elvis would love it. Beautifully done.

It seems as if Sony are trying to relaunch Elvis Presley as a contemporary artist almost. If this is the case, then fair play to them because he ain’t going be recording any new stuff soon. Following on from the well received Royal Philharmonic Albums is this latest offering complete with new instrumentals and backing singers. Well, I say new backing singers, Cissy Houston(The Sweet Inspirations and Whitney’s mum) Darlene Love(The Blossoms and Lethal Weapon),The Stamps and the surviving members of The Imperials. So it contains a very good musical and vocal pedigree. I’ve never been a massive fan of Elvis’ gospel output, How Great Thou Art and Crying in the Chapel aside. That said, I purchased it and I am glad I did. Obviously the title track duet with Lisa Marie is superb and is almost like a new song. However for me, the real standout is You’ll Never Walk Alone. I loved his version from 1967(?), but this topped the original. I really enjoyed the catchy I’ve Got Confidence, Saved and So High. How Great Thou Art was very reminiscent of the concert years even though his vocals were from the original 1966 release. The real disappointment on this album is Crying in the Chapel. His vocals seem to be weak, possibly taken from an outtake and it does not have the musical “guts” of the original. It is also sorely lacking the prescience of The Jordanaires. That said, a fine release.

Not a great fan of gospel music even when the King is involved. However bar Amazing Grace not Es fault just loathe the song, thought this was nicely done and Lisa did a fine job. The video that goes with their duet is worth seeking out.

You will never please all Elvis fans when you mess with his music, but as long as it's done in good taste and with care, it's nice to hear different musical interpretations.

Received the cd/ vinyl on Friday 10/08/18 and since then the cd has been played over 10 times already. Elvis singing gospel which he so obviously loved is sublime. The duet with Lisa is so haunting,had tears in my eyes on listening to the song/ lyrics. Are they better than the originals ,no they aren't. However they are different enough to feel that they are new. Areal quality release I love it.Right I'm off to listen to it again. The King will live forever.

Its a poor remix CD of gospel songs with one "duet" with Lisa Marie doing Where No One Stands Alone. Lisa has in the past done some great "duets" with Elvis but this is the weakest. Overall the songs are not re-mixed to be different enough just worse backing instrumentation. The best bit of the CD are the pictures on the front and back cover. The original song versions are far superior and mixed better. Only worth buying if you want to buy all Elvis CD's and can get a cheap used copy
