This book is invaluable and fascinating. We have found my husband's grandparents' tiny russian town, - our pronounciation was totally different from the actual name , but the authors had ours listed as well! Highly recommended for anyone interested in the destroyed life of european jewry

If you are trying to find the exact coordinates of a particular shtetl, then there is no book better than this one. However, I purchased this book thinking that I would be told a bit about the actual shtetls themselves, so that I could really learn about what Jewish life was there. This book had virtually nothing for this.
