I was so moved by this film - I even read the original book it was based upon. A powerful performance by Art Carne. Since I volunteer in hospice when I can (thank you, Dannion Brinkley for your commitment to end-of-life issues & your publications - SAVED BY THE LIGHT; SECRETS OF THE LIGHT - about NDEs and our need for awareness of hospice care) this presents as a fabulous hospice message as well. Homing pigeons representing the message of home/family and the right to die with dignity at home among one's family and loved ones. The child actor was amazing in this as well. Michael Landon always kept his promise of honoring family values. A MUST-SEE - and watch it with your kids!!

I have already written a review on what a wonderful, heart-warming story this is. I also wrote that I was disappointed when it showed not available and they don't know when or if it will ever be. I taped it off tv and a vhs copy isn't very strong. I hope it becomes available again someday soon.

This is such a sweet movie about a grandfather and grandson relationship. This little boy, Hugh, adored his grandfather so much it breaks your heart. I luckily recorded this many years ago on TV, and have yet to erase it. I am waiting still, for it to come onto DVD. Why do they take so long to put such a fantastic movie out for us to see? This is a major tearjerker, but also a must see. It even made my father cry when he watched it. I won't tell you what it's about, so not to spoil it for you. This is a movie you'll never forget once it's viewed, a must see for all family members, including children.

On a Friday afternoon, when I was 14 years old, I watched this movie in Iran (I am Persian). I moved to Canada in 2009 and this movie has always been with me. It perfectly shows your tie with your childhood. A great movie about life ...
