This story really touched me. It takes place in the area I grew up in so it totally caught my eye. But the heart breaking emotion that is in this book keeps you going and wanting more and more. I laughed and cried (ALOT), but in the end K.L. puts your heart back together again! Fantastic book!!!
Where We Belong has dual POV from both Harley and Tyson. I have read a few other reviews regarding this and I have to say I disagree with some of the comments on saying that it is unrealistic story. I believe that yes even though this is fiction, much of this does actual occur in real life.
Harley and Tyson have know each other than entire lives. As their lives start taking different directions, one of them decides it is time to tell the other that they are in love with them. The story starts off with some major heartache and continues to show how situations or conversations can be misinterpreted to continue to cause hurt.
I think it is a great story about growing up and coping with decisions that were made when they were young. It was a quick read and definitely recommend to add to your TBR list.
The book follows Harley as she tries to get her life sorted out after a tragic event that happened to her five years ago. The same night her best friend Tyson walked away from her and her confession of love. She is surrounded with a cast of great friends and co-workers that only add to the relate-ability of the story. When she is out for a night of fun, she is met with a blast from her past that sets her world tipping back over. Tyson is back and he is here for Harley and the relationship he has wanted with her for years but was too scared to admit to.
Both Tyson and Harley have their reasons for being hesitant to try and go back to where they were before. Harley has her reasons, it isn't just her that she has to protect but Max as well. The scenes between them when they encounter each other after Ty's return were gut wrenching. There was so much pain and anger between the reality of what could've and should've happened and what actually did happen, that they couldn't see how much they were hurting themselves. When they finally manged to work somethings out, there was still one vital piece of information Harley was withholding. I found myself smiling right along with Ty as he spent time, bonded and fell in love with Max. And the birthday cards that Ty was given just melted my heart. When Harley's big secret was revealed, it really hit the fan. I was expecting some sort of blow back on the situation but not to the extent that it happened. However, they both had their reasons for reacting the way they did.
Overall, this book gave it all to me. There was heartbreak, anger, passion, pain, a shocking twist and more heartbreak. The characters were believable and likeable- I found myself rooting for them from the onset and wanting them to get the happiness they both deserved. The plot was different and kept me turning the pages until I had finished in a few hours. I absolutely can not wait to see where K.L. Grayson takes me next!
