I orignally got this game for my niece and started to play it to find out if a six year old could play. Mind you, I play games like Gears of War, Halo, Uncharted, etc. This game is not only fun but a breath of fresh air. I stopped playing FEAR 2 to play this game. I think my mind was getting a little tired of the gore and evil. Anyway back to the game..

Okay it's the Wii so we won't go into the graphics (Atleast it's not ugly). I like the variety in gameplay. You are not just beating things with a stick. And the tasks are just enough to not become monotunous.

A cute and compeling story that makes you feel good to play. I would recommend for all above the age of 8 because of its difficulty.

This game is not for anyone who enjoys strategy or complexity. You do a lot of running and jumping and climbing and swinging from things. You collect little energy balls, skulls and fruit. I was looking forward to some interesting graphics and special effects but most of the action is medium resolution and not very exciting. There are none of the magical visual moments I was looking forward too. Your POV in the game is a good distance from the action in the short battles you have with bugs, so there isn't a great deal of skill involved. This is not for the serious gamer. It is less dark and scary than the film and therefore better for younger kids.

BTW, my copy came with a "ticket" worth $7.50 off the price of the movie. So if you want to see the flick and buy the game you might want to get the game first.

My 6 year old loves this game and he can be quite picky. It helps he always enjoyed the book too. I as a parent appreciate the fact that its pretty harmless- no killing or shooting a bad guy. Basically Max running through a wild forest swatting bees and climbing vines. It's refreshing and he loves it when he makes it far enough along to interact with the wild things. They even cheer him on.

I love the book and movie, and I did like this game. It is not terribly difficult. I think it is more of a children's game than a game for adults.

In terms of general gaming, if you're not into the book, then pass on this game. As a game, it's not fantastic except for the theme.

My 8 year old son loves this game as well as my husband. It is hard to find adventure games for kids that are not too violent. The "enemies" in the game are big wasp-type bugs of differing varieties, and black goo.I like that it is a club that the character Max swings(no guns etc)Every "puzzle" is simple enough,
but challenging too; just right. My husband and I loved the Baulders gate series for the play-station, and we have been looking for a good not-too-violent adventure game for our son. Here it is.

I really didn't know what to expect when I ordered this Wii game, I loved the book as a child and never saw the movie. Well, glad I took a chance because the game is awesome! The graphics are amazing, it's so much fun to play - Max gets to fly around on these feathers, fly up on heat vents, climb around after the wild things and so much more. We couldn't stop playing once we started until it was time for bed! Would highly recommend - this is my favorite Wii game so far, even better than Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess

I personally did not like this game. It's just repetitive with the same atmosphere and scenery pretty much. Wonder around land, beat up bugs and follow the monsters. No fun factor, whatsoever.

I will say the controls are easy and your character moves nicely, but this isn't enough to make me like a boring game. Also the music is pretty nice, but it goes unnoticed at times as the game play gets really repetitive and feels pointless. Wish there was more to do and had change in scenery.

My six year old son has played many a Wii game this past year, but this one has very quickly become one of his very favorites. Why? It's so very beautiful and it really allows him to use his imagination. The challenges are somewhat basic but they're all exhilarating, mainly because the world you explore is fascinating and rich. Without question his favorite thing to do is fly with the use of Douglas's feathers; he spends a lot of time in the village flying to explore and then hugging the various wild things before dancing with them. Clearly there's something about this game that frees his imagination -- when he thinks I'm not listening, I hear him making up stories and games he plays with the wild things as they run and dance around the village. As a parent I really like this game much better than the others we have, as it's much less violent and much more imaginative and interactive than most. [Indeed, I have to sometimes encourage him to knock down plants with his sceptre because he would much rather grow Judith a pretty garden -- that's a change!]
