Review

"Stacy Eaton has always had an amazing use of words in her writing, marking each of her novels unique and always amazing, heart gripping and so engaging the reader can't help but keep reading until the end." (ajk) avid reader

"
A realistic look at domestic violence and the destruction it causes. Amanda and Nicole are so very different in their lives. In some ways it was a hard read - domestic violence is never pretty. I was unable to put the book down" Kgoldenh

"
As a woman who was married to an abusive husband for 4 years, this book is right on target. It was so real and accurate. I could not put it down and the end just blew me away, I never saw it coming. Every woman should read this even if you've never been abused. " Karen

"
I loved the style of going from one character to another, keeping up with each of them. Halfway through the book, I was thinking "These women are going to meet at some point. The paths are destined to collide." Loved the concept and the way it was all tied together." Kim Settimo

From the Author

Domestic Violence is a major problem in our society. My purpose for writing stories that deal with domestic violence:

**First to help people that have never been in an abusive relationship to understand there are many facets to it

**Second is to hopefully reach out to victims and let them know that they arenot alone, and that they can have a life and freedom.

My stories are written from experience. The emotions, pain and many of thethoughts and actions of my characters are from real life experiences.

Some Reviews on my Domestic Violence Novels:

"
As a woman who was married to anabusive husband for 4 years, this book is right on target. It was soreal and accurate."

Barbara's Plea:

"
Stacy Eaton has a way of writing about tough subjects that most peopleeither gloss over or simply skip altogether. She does not pretty it up;she just writes what needs to be said. Some parts are heart-wrenching,some anger-inducing. The book is extremely well written."

"Writing about domestic violence is very hard to do, but to do so in such a realistic and awe-inspiringmanner takes a lot of skill and understanding of the topic."

You're Not Alone:

"
Domestic violence is a subjectthat not too many authors are able to tackle with as much realism andassurance as Stacy Eaton. The characters are well shown, and the imagery of abuse is excellently portrayed."

"
So well written to describedomestic violence and how deeply it impacts a woman's life. Thank youfor telling the story so well I am not a victim but have worked withprograms that help victims."

"Whether I'll Live or Die" is a riveting read that evokes several emotional responses as you read. The book details the lives of "Amanda" and "Nicole", two women who appear to be very different from the beginning of the book, but who become inextricably tied together by the end in a surprising and poignant twist. From beginning to end, both of their stories are raw and real, one trying to cope with an ongoing cycle of domestic abuse, the other dealing with life as a police officer inevitably drawn into violent crime. If you have an aversion to graphic violence or abuse, this is not the book for you. You will find traces of fairy tale love and romance, but it serves more as intermittent relief from an ongoing theme of brutality throughout the entire novel rather than hold a place as a prominent theme of its own. I repeat - this novel is raw and REAL, not for the squeamish.

Don't get me wrong. The violence is not gratuitous in any way. It is the essence of the experiences of these two women - experiences that will make you angry, sad, afraid, and even resolute in your pursuit of the final pages in order to see how it all ends. I will not give away spoilers, but I can say that there will be vindication by the end of the story. However, how you arrive at the ultimate resolution is a brilliantly crafted journey that engages the reader both emotionally and psychologically. The author teaches us that ultimately, destiny is in our own hands and we decide whether our spirits will live or die in this lifetime.

I have just finished this book and had to immediately write a review praising the authoress. Sadly this story is all to familiar with my life and like the main character, karate also helped pull me out of that nasty pit of abuse and self hatred. The way this story was told was unique and it engages you right from the start. The characters were all so real. I just don't know what to say, I am so choked up. It brought back memories and feelings that I had buried in my mind and thought I had buried forever. All I can say is please read this book! And be there for someone if you can.

I downloaded Whether I'll Live or Die when it was offered in Amazon Kindle's Top 100 Free, and I am glad I did. Stacy Eaton tells a compelling story of two women affected by domestic violence, one a victim and another a police officer, as their lives head toward inevitable intersection. This book is currently an Amazon Prime Kindle Lending selection. Definitely worth reading.

Life changing, compelling and heartbreaking are just a few of the words I would use to describe author Stacy Eaton's novel, Whether I'll Live or Die. The author takes us on a compelling and life changing journey with characters Nicole and Amanda, two women whose lives are at complete opposites and yet inextricably intertwined. Whether I'll Live or Die focuses on the realities of Domestic Abuse, something that is all too prevalent in this day and age. It also takes us through life as a police officer and the violent crimes they face on a daily basis. Nothing about this story is sugar coated.

This book is absolutely riveting, taking you on a kaleidoscope of emotions while you quickly turn pages to reach the climatic ending, an ending that won't disappoint. A highly recommended read.

In this book, Stacy Eaton takes on the ambitious project of telling a double story. I thought the subject matter was well handled, although at times it was easy to become frustrated with Amanda for her lack of self-preservation. After she got her butt handed to her by the first offensive meat-head, one would have almost expected her to wise up. I have taken psychology courses and I do understand the mentality described here. Still, I felt that the author made Amanda seem weaker than she should have. It is not just timid women who lime to be the less dominant one in the relationship that go through abuse. As the author points out in the beginning people of either sex, any race, religion, social standing, etc. can suffer at the hand of an abuser. I wondered as I followed Amanda's journey why she would allow a boyfriend, a "friend" and later a husband to do this to her when she had every opportunity to not repeat the mistakes of the past. I can't see her following the course of needing to stay with an abuser as it didn't seem that her and the first boyfriend had been dating long at all. She was only nineteen, came from a good family who cared for her and didn't fit the profile of a woman who had suffered mistreatment for so long that she didn't know any other way. The secondary story line in this book was from a female officer's perspective and I wasn't able to get into that story as far. I thought the character of Amanda was written much better.

I respect what the author has done here in trying to raise awareness. I thought this book was pretty well executed and it was moving. It is about a serious topic and should be given proper credit for helping others to see what some women go through.

...it pulled at my heart and emotions. Despite the pain that was experienced by the main protagonist, I couldn't help but keep turning the pages. It was one of those reads where the author has breathed such life into her characters that they stay with you long after you close the book. Partially to credit is the fact, I couldn't help but feel a sadness in my soul knowing that this happens in real life. It contradicts a healthy person's ethical and moral conscience.

It deals with a "taboo" subject, that of domestic abuse. It is a private crime that casts shame on the abused. But, it doesn't have to stay behind closed doors. People can help. People do help. In fact, the author is donating a portion of the proceeds from this book to Domestic Violence Centres.

This is the first book I read that was written in first point of view for two differently named characters. I was wondering how the two females--Amanda and Nicole were going to marry together. I was quite impressed by the author's shocking twist.

The author captured the isolation, fear, and guilt the abused must undergo. It showed how these victims get caught in a spiral of self-hate and low self-esteem. They think the abuse is their fault--they are worthless and being punished for being them. It's this element that is heartbreakingly true.

However, the book also shows the power and strength of the human spirit to rise about such suppression. Highly recommend.
