Brett was so fun to unravel. I loved seeing the sweet, caring side of him that was brought out during his time away from the hectic motorcross lifestyle. Elizabeth Lee allowed him to grow into his emotions at a pace that felt genuine to his character, leaving me totally hooked on this former ladies man. While Brett dealt with newly discovered emotions, Georgia worked to let go of the emotions keeping her from moving forward with her life. There was something so satisfying in seeing her face the past and make peace with her fiance’s death in order to move on. Through this character growth, Elizabeth Lee not only made her totally lovable and relatable, but she revealed a strength in Georgia that was undeniably beautiful. Brett’s laid-back, fun-loving attitude perfectly balanced Georgia’s serious, responsible demeanor. Together they brought out the best in each other, pushed each other to embrace life, and turned up the heat when their differences inspired friction. Their chemistry was palpable from the start and as their connection grew I found myself more and more invested in their happily ever after.
Whipped is a journey of healing, both emotionally and physically. It captures the trials of moving forward and the risks we take to open our hearts again after they’ve been shattered. Georgia and Brett’s story was surprisingly poignant while being addictively entertaining and full of life. Elizabeth Lee did a great job with the timing and pacing of Whipped. I love that we didn’t have to wait to jump into Brett and Georgia’s story. Having met them in Throttled, their easy friendship and undeniable chemistry had already laid the groundwork for something more between them. With both character’s having their own issues to overcome, we needed the time to let them figure things out beyond the basics of getting to know each other and Elizabeth Lee did not disappoint. I was sure no one could beat our Reid Travers for my favorite motorcross man, but I guess I never saw Brett coming. Brett Salinger owns me completely!
This is my favorite of this Motocross series.
Georgia Bennett is the younger sister of Nora from book one (Throttled.) Georgia is constantly busy only stopping long enough to sleep...barely. She’s either in nursing school, working on her school papers, or volunteering at the hospital. Keeping busy helps with her grief since tragically losing her fiance. They had known each other most all of their lives and they were each others firsts in every way. She’s been devastated and now fears almost everything in life.
Brett Sallinger is the typical man-whore extraordinaire and his profession draws women like flies. He likes his women like he likes his bike. Fast. Uncomplicated. Replaceable. It seems he can’t go a night without a women in his bed. The man-whore issue is not something I am fond of in books but at least he doesn’t cheat once he meets Georgia so you are safe on the cheating home front.
Brett has had a severe injury while riding his best friend, Reid’s, bike in book one, an accident that was meant for Reid. Brett is in his mid twenties and has just undergone a knee replacement. Since Reid was called back to the circuit and Nora accompanied him, Georgia offered to care for Brett, check in on him daily and make sure he made it to his doctor’s appointments and physical therapy. She also helped with the grocery shopping and the everyday things that normal people do.
As the two grow closer Georgia is terrified because of Brett’s dangerous career as a professional freestyle motocross rider. She lost her fiance shortly after he joined the service and the fear she had for his safety was soon realized when she received the news of his death. Her fear for Brett is great and she just doesn’t know if she can handle being with him. What happens when it’s time for Brett to once again join his team?
I loved this book and the love story was so sweet and honest. I highly recommend this book as well as the series.
