My old bellow was moldy and had a few holes in it. I did not relized the problem until water was all over my floor. The main reason my bellow broke was overloading heavy clothes/towels in the washer (kenmore elite HE3) which warped the bellow, leading to holes. This new replacement is well made and of excellent quality. After watching a youtube video, I was able to replace it myself. Works perfectly with tight seal and no leaks (already 5 washes). Since this is my first time replacing this door boot seal (bellow), it took me almost an hour to figure out how to remove the old seal, remove screws (torx screwdriver), removing the parts, and placing/clamping the new bellow. Once familiar with this process, it is possible to remove/replace the bellow in much less time without having to remove screws/parts of the washer. It only cost me $75 to replace this part instead of hiring an expensive repair person (maybe $200+) or I buying a new washer costing $$$$. My Kenmore requres the part 8181662 which is also the same as 8181850.

This boot seal was easy to install. We had a leak in our 9 year old washer, which was due to a tear in the boot seal. I first used $3 vulcanizing rubber cement (bike tire repair kit) to fix one of the tears, but found another tear where it bends that the cement wouldn't hold.

This went on in no time. First, take off outer ring. Then push torn seal into washer. Find nut above seal and use a socket wrench to loosen then take off inner ring. Put new seal on by doing everything in reverse. Have some patience with the inner ring it needs to be worked on. You'll be done in 15-20 minutes.

This part was exactly what we needed to fix our leaking washer. With the assistance of an online how-to website, my husband was able to replace it without the assistance of a specialist and to this day is working like new! This website, Amazon.com, offered the part at the best price and even had it delivered ahead of schedule by several days! I didn't even have to make a trip to the laundrymat since the repair was done within 48 hrs! I have shopped Amazon.com before and everytime have been completely satisfied with my purchase and would recommend and shop again.

This was really easy to install. Watch the youtube videos to see how. Be careful, and pay attention to its orientation. Those who have complained about it tearing easily may have installed it improperly. It goes on in a specific orientation (there is a drain hole) and must not be twisted or it will be too tight and tear. Just a little caution when clamping it down and you will be fine.

I've had this installed for 6 months and it is working perfectly. Don't pay a service guy to change this. If you are reasonable good with tools and have a reasonable attention to detail (i.e. getting it on straight), then you should be able to do this.

As with most appliance parts there are no instructions provided. This video illustrates the technique for installation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uEk61JOgRk There is one fine detail that isn't covered. Some models of Whirlpool which include mine have a dispenser nozzle at the top of the bellow. The video doesn't include this bit of info. You will notice the hole at the top of the bellow that this fits. In removal of the old unit there is a plastic washer that acts as a stop. Gently pull this off the plastic shaft after you remove the rubber hose. The nozzle can be reinstalled on the new bellow.

If your machine doesn't have the nozzle and uses this same part number the hole is always aligned to the top and won't cause any leaks.

I watched the videos on U Tube on how to change this on my Kenmore HE3. I must have a much older model as I had to take out more screws than the mechanic in the videos. It is clear which screws need to be taken out. The hardest part of the job is reconnecting the spring clamp on the front of the bellow. I guess if you are a great mechanic you can change this bellow without taking off the front panel, and there is a u tube video that shows this procedure.

Fit perfectly and my washing machine no longer leaks. If your machine is leaking from the very bottom of the seal, like mine was, you may want to do the following. First check for any holes or tears in the rubber. If you cannot find any then remove the outer spring clamp and tighten the inner band clamp before removing any panels. If the adjusting screw on the inner band clamp is perpendicular to the band, like mine is, you can tighten it with a socket and extension. I wish I would have done this before ordering a new seal since my band clamp was very loose and thus the reason it was leaking.

got this installed for a few month's now and it works great. i looked up the retail price and it was over $140 plus tax and i got this for around $78
no leaks and my friend installed it for me . saved on buying it locally and getting a repair man which would cost at least another $100 or even have to buy a new washer which would be around $900

It is working great
