Our Kitchenaid dishwasher started making an awful noise and we thought it might be the hard food disposer...but after a good bit of internet research turns out it was failed bearings on the drive motor. I didn't price it but a repairman plus parts would have been at least $350-400 to fix. The rest of dishwasher looked and worked well, so I thought I'd give it a stab for a $120 part.

I was able to replace the motor, but I had to use my old sump/pump because the one that came with this item does not fit Kitchenaid dishwashers, at least mine. Luckily the motor part did fit and I was able to complete the repair, and now the dishwasher sounds as good as new. Please make sure you check the part numbers closely before ordering. The equivalent kitchenaid part (combo motor/pump assembly) is part # W10237169. The big difference that I saw was the size of the thermistor port - it is smaller on the whirlpool part than the kitchenaid part. But it has to fit unless you want to get into replacing the thermistor as well.

Note - there are several Youtube videos out there that give good direction on how to do this repair. Unfortunately you have to watch several of them to get the entire picture....Hope this helps someone.

This product fit perfectly and was a very easy item to install contrary to what one might expect. In other words it is easier than it looks to fix yourself. If you purchase this entire assembly as opposed to just the Motor then it will be an easy drop-in repair. I have a Sears Kenmore and this part was identical to the six year old part that I had removed. Minimal tools required.

This pump/motor assembly was exactly what was needed to repair the dishwasher. It was an expensive dishwasher to start with, so repairing it ourselves made sense and well worth the purchase of this part. You have to watch a few videos and none tell you about all the potential complications, especially if you have a dishwasher with extra bells and whistles. You should have some knowledge about o-rings and potential leaks. If it could go wrong, we had every complication. All were resolved with a little common sense. The biggest pain was the main gasket. It needs to be well lubricated or you'll find yourself in an awkward position trying to get it set correctly. It just does not fit right out of the box. Some simple dish soap does the trick. The various o-rings on other parts that need to be removed temporarily should be checked and re-seated with some Vaseline or you might have some leaks. I must have put the machine back together and tested it at least 2 times before everything was water tight and properly functioning. To be on the safe side we ordered the drain pump a day later just in case it failed. It was leaking after the initial repair, but we got that o-ring to sit right and it finally stopped leaking. It has now been a month or two since we made the repair and we haven't needed the drain pump. Bottom line, test and check a few times before you decide to run a full load! Other than the time required to resolve complications, it was a fairly easy job for the DIY but it could take a couple of hours and a lot of wet towels for a 30-45 min. job done by a professional.

Works as intended. Replaces a motor & pump that wore out over time. Only needed the electrical motor but decided it would be best to replace the entire assembly while I was at it since the additional cost wasn't that much more than just the motor. Only issue is there were no instructions to insert the pump. It was a very tight fit that required a lot of pressue to get the rubber seal to go into the proper position.

Installing this part fully restored our KitchenAid KUDI01ILBL3's cleaning power. The KUDI01ILBL3's full stainless tub and sound insulation isn't available in most new (read plastic tub) dishwashers anymore so the $131 price wasn't that bad to keep this well-made unit going and also consider it's "green" to not throw-away/replace a repairable appliance!

Install videos are available on You Tube Videos if you need them. Straightforward replacement 15-30 minutes max. You can Google "YouTube Replacing the Motor-Pump Assembly in a Whirlpool-built Dishwasher." BTW this circulation pump assembly has the correct thermistor/temp sensor fitting for the KitchenAid KUDI01ILBL3. Install notes - getting the drain pump off the old unit (for reuse) takes a significant bit of twisting (bayonet mount) after releasing the retaining clip, and pulling the circulation motor power connector "in the blind" is hard so we pulled the dishwasher out of the cabinet for better access.

Amazon price was excellent. Shipping was so-so. The US Postal Service failed us on this extra price Saturday delivery whining the box was too big for our rural mail box.

For Amazon Staff: Recommend Amazon eliminate USPS as a delivery service UPS or FedEx would have delivered the goods. So much for USPS's "Neither Rain, Sleet Hail or Snow..." We didn't get the part until the following Monday after having to drive to the local Post Office facility.

Amazon staff also please note we have experienced other delays not related to box size when the USPS is used for the hybrid "last-mile" delivery with US Postal Service. Please stick with full UPS/FedEx services for best customer service.
