It's kind of a spinoff of her Night Series. It would be a good idea to read the series so you know who Dean and Pandora are.
We have the forbidden love story of Scarlett and Mercer. He has always loved her but made a promise to Death/ Dean that he would never ever have her as his lover.
He saves her when she's brutally turned by a vampire. He saves her from being sired and jeeps his word to never give into his desire for her.
She in turn is in love with him and cannot have him. She keeps getting the hot and cold from him. But she doesn't know about the promise he made to Dean a long time ago.
This is a book that has a lot of details in it. It's very well written as all of this authors books no matter which pen name it is written under.
You definitely will not regret reading this book it's awesome!!
GOOD FROM BEGINNING TO END SO MUCH TWITS AND TURNS
I expected an soft core police procedural in an urban fantasy landscape. I did not expect what I found. Personal experiences tell me that there are hard and good truths nested in the lines. This book is a gift. With deft words, the glory and the pain of living and loving in the midst of the mundane are painted between the lines.
It is a book that deserves to be read. Don't expect all your questions to be answered... life never does that and in this the book follows life. Like it, love it or hate it, read it all the way thru.
This was a great take on urban fantasy, and makes me want to read more, and try her Night series, that came before it. Everyone and their Aunt Jeannine has a take on shifters and vampires. Rarely do you find a new idea. It's the little things that count, like how the hunger for blood is described in the book. Like delicious food, mana as essential to the vamp as a hamburger is to a human. Those lil things make the story, or break it. And this one is great.
